Cotto v Trout Poll Empty Cotto v Trout Poll

Post by Seanusarrilius Wed 28 Nov - 13:27

How have we not spoken more about this?

Great and unlikely match-up. Trout is no joke and will be tricky and slippery and also the bigger man at the weight. Should be interesting.

At the moment I am leaning toward a close pts win for.... Cotto, no Trout, no Cotto.

How do you guys see this one going?

Not seen much of Trout to know to be honest.

An unbeaten fighter is ALWAYS dangerous no matter who you are.

He has nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Cotto on the otherhand could lose everything, including his career.

I think Cotto looks better at his current weight and will be technically too good for the young unbeaten Trout.

I think body shots will wear him down forcing a late stoppage around 10.

But like you say, it could be Trout dishing out the stoppage.

What channel is this on by the way?

Trout is a nightmare for Cotto imo and that's why I can see him pulling off the upset although I think the judges could help cotto out as GB want to make Cotto-Alvarez which is a guaranteed money maker

Trout is quick, slick, big, hungry, technically sound, great southpaw jab and is good at holding on the inside which is cotto's only hope of winning. Cotto looks less than spectacular vs a shot mayorga and an average Foreman so even though he had a spirited effort vs Mayweather (a welterweight) and a good win over margarito he isn't a LMW and it could tell in this fight

If cotto can get on the inside enough he will so but if trout can keep him at range, with a 3inch height and 4 inch reach advantages, and hold him on the inside he will win. Mayweather almost stopped cotto so if trout can be the fresher going into the final 3/4 rounds he could push on for the stoppage

Cotto will win on points. I hope not though

I think Trout will be gutted if he loses

I think Trout will be on the end of one of Cotto's famous hooks. Cotto LKO

Cotto by a late stoppage, I think. Trout looks a touch vulnerable to the body, which Cotto can take advantage of; I was impressed with how much success he had in getting to Mayweather in that area.

Cotto TKO 11, or something along those lines.

Cotto hits hard to the body, but I am not sure if he has the power at 154 to KO a quality and pretty elusive fighter like Trout, who will be the bigger man at the weight

Looking at his record you would think so as he has 3 stoppages in his 3 wins but looking into it Foreman's knee caved in and while beig outboxed he wasn't close to hiring the canvas, Margarito's eye closed (although there isnt much shame in not stoppin marg) and Mayorga was gassed and was taken out by a body shot.

He isn't a 1 punch guy and more of a wear you down type fighter which doenst usually bode well when you move up in weight

Cotto is an elite fighter whereas Trout isn't.

Cotto by KO inside 8 rounds.

This reminds of Martinez v Chavez to an extent, unbeaten boxer against a good experienced boxer. Cotto will school him to a points decision.

Think Cotto has become a fantastic boxer and can apply pressure much more intelligently than he used to, which in my view makes up for him being on the smaller side of the 154 division. Trout looks like he's easier to hit to the body also so I think Cotto will make him wilt toward the end.

I am impressed with Trout to be honest. I think he might be very hard to find at times for Cotto, and as the bigger man, should be able to got he distance. I am just thinking that with pressure and home advantage, Cotto can grind out a W on points. Lots of people on other, lesser, forums are saying Trout pts or Cotto KO - so toughie to pick.

I just have this niggling feeling that Trout will be more of a handful than Cotto realised and will sneak a SD.

Which probably means a relatively early KO in real terms... Laugh
