What are everyones opinions of these games?

I have owned pretty much all of them on some format or other.

The first one for me was groundbreaking. Scary as poopie and nothing like anything else seen on a console/ PC before it. It was the first game that made me literally jump (although I did sometimes involuntarily jump whilst playing Jumping Jack on the speccie!).

As the series went on, the games pretty much used the same engine, although the graphics improved and the moving between rooms got quicker - still brilliant stuff though.

In the meantime, Silent Hill and its sequels became more popular. The first one especially is probably the best game ever released on the PS1. I actually bought a PS2 just to play Silent Hill 2!

The original Silent Hill is a masterpiece in creeping terror. The siren signalling the changing world still gives me the willies!

And then came Resident Evil 4. Wow! Playing this on the Wii is incredible - the controls just seem perfect and natural and even though I have completed it 3 times already, I am still playing it instead of opening Goldeneye which is still in its selophane.

I havent played Resident Evil 5 but the reviews havent been great compared to 4. Its also never been ported to the Wii which is a shame.

I know there are more games outwith these series (such as Dead Space) but what are your favourites of the genre?

I never really played any of these assuming they were a bit of a doom clone. Obviously I've missed out on something.

I might have to get a copy of resident evil for the Wii... And are they actually scary or just another shooter type thing?

The reason Resident Evil 5 has never been ported to Wii, quite simply, is because it can not handle the graphics/rendering. If you ever get the opportunity to play it then do so - it's an absolutely fantastic game. I recommend playing on the 360 over the PS3 purely for the comfort of the controller due to the games controls.

Silent Hill - Homecoming on 360 is good too. Avoid Saw, utter garbage.

Don't have that many consoles Dusty... I have an old PS2 that I use to watch dvds (mainly dodgy ones that my main player can't handle) and a Wii that my office bought me when I was injured.

Resident Evil 4 on the wii is fantastic.

I noticed you have Goldeneye - I will give that a bash soon and we will have to get a multiplayer game going.

resident evil 4 is not only the best game for the Wii, due to its nunchuck controller, it is possibly in the top ten games of all time (obviously in my opinion).

Seriously good. You can pick it up for about £15 in game (second hand)

Can't recommend it enough.

I didn't log off.... Left the machine locked and went to the gamestore nearby. They had a copy for a tenner... so I nabbed it.

And had a burger while I was out as well.

I kinda like this game... interesting... a bit of atmosphere... and the controls are reasonably easy to get to grips with.

Now to start it over and not shoot the place up like a member of the A-Team in a hastily constructed tank

Wait till you get to the chainsaw mofos!

Was playing it again tonight - still have about a third of it to complete on pro level.

I seriously love this game!

I was gonna play a little this evening... but instead I've cracked open a TsingTao and a bottle of Sake. Man this stuff is good.

Wobbly already (although I have had 5 shots in 10 minutes!) thumbsup

OK. Got the Wii online finally (Bt HomeHub was knackered)...

So now. How do I get it to connect to the internet from within a game?

Mario Kart or Goldeneye would be a good start.

Mac. If you read this still interested in a little kartracing?
