If it is legit, and as a result of a Ryback botch, let's hope it results in his swift fall down the card.

There's nothing in that powerbomb last night that suggested a knee injury , He's been carrying one for the last few Michael Cole mentioned it last week as well so id expect it's very much a work

Convenient that it happens the day he ties Cenas 380. Announcement on WWE.com later will be Punk vacates title and him and Cena can be tied as the longest reigns of the last 25 years.

Re: CM Punk Knee surgery
According to PWInsider, the said knee injury is legit and is not storyline. CM Punk has been working on a bad knee for quite some time now and was trying to tough it out since he has taken the responsibility of carrying WWE as their champion to heart.
At this time, there is no indication on what will happen with CM Punk and the WWE title match for the TLC pay-per-view.

It could be a work but the fact they mention Dr. Andrews would suggest to me it's legit.
They usually only ever bring his name up when it's a legit serious injury that requires surgery

Knee surgery can rule him out for a while. He might miss Mania if its bad enough.
How would you book TLC now then? Put Jumping John and Ziggles in the match and make it a Triple Threat?

WWE.com has confirmed that Dr. Andrews completed a scope of CM Punk’s left knee. Andrews successfully trimmed a cartilage tear in Punk’s knee.
“CM Punk underwent knee surgery today to remove a piece of torn meniscus that had locked up his knee,” said Andrews’ colleague, WWE physician Dr. Chris Amann. “The surgery, performed by Dr. James Andrews, went smoothly and CM Punk is expected to make a full recovery in a few weeks.”

Re: CM Punk Knee surgery
I would guess that Punk will have limited physical involvement prior to TLC and maybe go around on crutches in the style of Christian and his neck brace (btw, where the heck is he?? Still got a shoulder problem?).
I would guess he would work through TLC as he would then have 4 - 5 weeks before the Rumble where it will probably be mainly a talking feud with the Rock. That should give him sufficient time to recover.

Re: CM Punk Knee surgery
I think they should have the shield attack CM Punk ruling him out of TLC. But then that would just mess up the TLC PPV all together. Guess they should add Cena and Ziggler to the match then to protect Punk.

Re: CM Punk Knee surgery
I didn't expect the surgery would keep Punk out of the TLC match, the longest period between PPV's is probably TLC and the Rumble, with TLC only 12 days away if it was going to be surgery that takes him out I'd expect that to be the time they'd do it, from what I seen it's key-hole, that's run of the mill, it'll be tender and he'll have to be more cautious than normal but he'll get through it, I sense we're in for another majorly screwy finish though so he might not have much to do at all

Re: CM Punk Knee surgery
The outcome of Punk v Ryback was obvious anyway, we all know Punk would have retained somehow, so it's not really the end of the world.
The fact they've kept the title on him tells me they're confident he'll be fit to face The Rock in January.
It's also a blessing in disguise for Ryback as it means he doesn't need to lose at 3 PPVs in a row.

Didn't John Cena have a "torn meniscus" only a week ago, and fought on? Yet Punk has to have surgery? What a Cat. He's only doing this so he doesn't have to defend his title. [/kayfabe]

Reckon Cena will threaten to get Punk fired for copying his injury then?

Re: CM Punk Knee surgery
This is what it says about his type of knee surgery:
When can I return to normal activities?
Patients who undergo arthroscopic knee surgery for treatment of a meniscus tear can usually return to normal activities quite quickly. Most patients take a few days or a long weekend off work. If the meniscus is removed (partial meniscectomy), then there are usually few activity restrictions. Patients can walk and move normally, so long as they don't have pain.
When can I return to sports?
It depends on your comfort level. For most meniscectomies, patients can resume their activities as tolerated. For most patients, this means returning to normal walking within a few days to a week, returning to jogging within a month, and returning to sports within 4 to 8 weeks. Some patients take longer, others are quicker.
You must check with your doctor about your specific rehabilitation, as there may be reasons to protect your knee for a longer period of time. Only your doctor can tell you exactly what your specific rehab should be.

There's no way in hell Punk's not going to compete at the Rumble, I'm pretty sure he'd find a way to face the Rock even if he'd ruptured a disc which fragmented into his spinal column.

Re: CM Punk Knee surgery
I expect Punk to take a few months off after WrestleMania, he's been the company workhorse since they threw the MitB on him in 2008, he's barely had any breathing space apart from being injured in late 2010 but even then they threw him on the announce team.
I'd like to see him take a few months off and come back in time for SummerSlam, by that time the focus could be on the likes of Ryback so if he doesn't take time off he'd probably spend most of spring/summer jobbing to him which would do more garm than good anyway

He's dusting them off as we speak, sitting by the phone waiting for WWE to call him to replace CM Punk in the WWE title match at the Rumble.

Brimstone once injured his knee so he removed it himself and replaced it with a Terry's Chocolate Orange. There's still no word on whether or not he's signed with TNA though...

In Brimstones own words...
"Brimstone the character is, in Kucmierowski's own words, a, "dark entity that embodies destruction. Brimstone is a no nonsense character who will normally go out and dominate a match."[19][20] Brimstone states, "I'm the kind of character now who is an unstoppable force in the ring where I'll go in and I'll clean house."[21]
Otherwise know as a bell-hole!

Reading that, it's easy to see why Shawn Michaels was an "inspiration for the backbone of the Brimstone character".
It's almost uncanny.

Kucmierowski would pursue the idea of becoming a wrestler at the age of twenty-one after a chance meeting with Bret Hart and the Iron Sheik
Translation: He went to a convention.

Never darken these doors again!
Brimstone is the heir apparant to Undertaker, handpicked by Taker, spotted by Bret Hart, recommended by HBK, he's a wrestler, movie star and philanthropist, he has custom made boots for flips sake!
Basically he's a nutjob of an amateur wrestler that never really did anything but used to come on 606 and argue with us all over his self worth. He had a wiki page that was possibly the longest wiki page ever made (its shorter than it used to be now unfortunately): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brimstone_%28wrestler%29

Re: CM Punk Knee surgery
Oh i see. Who would pretend to be 'Pat Buck'?!
Back to Punk's injury, i think he should be very thankful to The Rock that he hasnt been forced to drop the title. Apparently The Rock has been under the impression for a long time that he'll face Punk at the Rumble and Vince has considered Punk dropping the title over the last few months but decided against it as he didnt want to upset the apple cart with The Rock.
I'd imagine if The Rock wasnt challenging for the title, Punk would no longer be WWE Champion.

Yeah it's definitely a good job for Punk that the Rock is so keen to work with him at the Rumble (and in the lead up to it).
