The Peter Principle!
This states " You are only ever promoted to your level of incompetence"!

Well done Mr Gatland!

Re: The Peter Principle!
I can only conclude that Howley's got Wales's backs playing the game Gatland wants them to be playing. In light of that, Howley's the ideal man for the job and we'll see the Lions playing a very similar game. It doesn't excite me.

Re: The Peter Principle!
To be fair the Declan Kidney one is a bit different.
He had the credetials to get the Ireland job, he came in an excelled for a while winning the 6 Nations and making Ireland one of best teams in the world going an entire year without losing.
Then he was so dreadfully woeful for three years but has managed to avoid the sack or the work of the hired assassins we hired.

My post was a bit tongue in cheek (forgot the smiley)but he does superficially fit the Peter Principle perfectly. You could however pick holes in that argument very easily.

To be fair Kindey is more like Gareth Jenkins than Howley, there was no arguing he was the man for the job, and definately had the credentials, however he has seemed to become a bit outdated since getting the job.
As for Howley, I think he is doing very well off the Wasps old boys network. IMO he shouldn't have been called into the welsh setup to begin with and he shouldn't have been out on the last Lions tour, then he should have been ditched when we lost all the style in our backs, he certainly should have gone after the AIs, but now he will be stepping up to the Lions again.
