The Fallout of the 'Fail Mary' Empty The Fallout of the 'Fail Mary'

Just thought about this, and the impact many predicted it could well have.

Currently the Packers stand at the #3 seed at 10-4 half a game behind the 49ers at 10-3-1 in the #2 seed, while Seattle has a grip on a NFC wildcard spot at 9-5, but needing Arizona to beat SF to have a shot at the NFC West.

Reverse the outcome of that game, and the Pack now hold the inside track on a bye at 11-3, SF has the NFC West locked up, and Seattle is put right back into the mix of 8-6 teams in the NFC and in trouble should they not get past SF.

Thought I'd get it up there before a Dave Dameshek N'iF'L special

If by legitimate you mean caught by a Packer and then stolen in a pileup by Seattle then yes Smile

I was feeling aggrieved about this last week when I saw the alternative playoff predictor that the guy who does the NFC North blog on ESPN has started. Before the weekend's games, you could point to the blown call at the end of the Seattle/Green Bay game as the reason that the Redskins would not at that point have made it to the playoffs had the season ended last week. Seattle would have been alongside us on 7-6 and we'd have held the tiebreaker which would have put us in as the final wildcard at their expense. As it happens, we're now inexplicably top of the NFC East and our clearest path to the playoffs is to win the division!

Also, quite happy to do Cherries work for him here and point out that through the first 9 games, the Redskins made plenty enough mistakes to stop them racking up enough wins to take care of their own business. More than happy to admit that! OK

Walsh note that in that game we sacked Rodgers 8 times and there only TD was a blown PI call on 3rd down where the had to punt it.

Has the NFL come up with a new scoring system where 8 sacks mean that you automatically win then?
