What is your favourite golf movie?
Over the years, there has been some great golfing movies (and some not great ones!). Some have taken the art of golfing as the central concept, others have taken an irreverant look at the sport.
But what do you like (if anything) from a golf movie?
I have done a bit of research and found that there arent that many golf movies out there, which is surprising bearing in mind it has the biggest universal appeal out of any sport (soccer is probably a close second). Out of the ones I found, these are the ones that stood out as possible candidates:
Bobby Jones: Stroke of Genius - the first ever film to be granted location filming at St Andrews.
Caddyshack - you know, the one with the gophers. Has golf as its backdrop and plays on the traditions of golf.
The Foursome - a college reunion movie set against a golf match
Happy Gilmore - how an ice hockey player takes (or not as the case may be) to the traditions of golf.
The Legend Of Bagger Vance - a period film with an amazing cast. Very good story.
Tin Cup - Kevin Costner as a has been pro given one shot at redemption
So which is your favourite and what do you make of the ones you have seen?

Don't forget 'The Greatest Game Ever Played' about Francis Ouimet
My favourite is Tin Cup - brilliant!
"You ride her until she bucks ya or you don't ride her at all"

Personally, Caddyshack for the comedy but 'The Greatest Game Ever Played' was excellent.

There's also 'Follow the Sun', a biopic of Ben Hogan. I've not seen it but it's on my LoveFilm list.

Cannot stand Happy Gilmore mainly because its Adam Sandler playing the same role he does in nearly every film he's in a bit of a loser with an addiction to some of sport which he thinks he's good at but generally isn't and then he is just angry for comedic value, complete drivel.
Caddy shack wins hands down for a take off of the game for a laugh and joke and really has some of the best one liners from bill murray and chevy chase "do you know you was caught night putting with the deans daughter danny, Mitch Cumstein, Mitch Cumstein that's who"
The Frances Ouimet movie is a great piece and look bag at the game of yesteryear and it encapsulates the young mans love of the game and what he went through to get there.
Bagger Vance is a decent film but a little to Hollywood in its lack of depth in that you know exactly how its going to end.
Haven't seen the Hogan movie yet but follow the sun is on the shopping list for me to purchase, may nip online in a bit and buy it

Anyone who doesn't have Tin Cup and Caddyshack in their top two doesn't know their butts from their elbows!
