A sad day in the midst of a slam for an Australian as the Australian Open is in progress.

Excerpt from the attached link (in case posters are busy not to be able to read the link itself. Wink)

"Brad Drewett, who will resign from his position as ATP Executive Chairman and President following his diagnosis with motor neurone disease.

A top-40 singles and top 20 doubles player in the 1980s, Drewett has been part of the ATP for more than 35 years, encompassing roles as a player, ATP Player Council member, ATP Player Board member, as CEO of the International Region and Tournament Director of the ATP’s season-ending event from 2001 to 2011.

The highly-respected Australian is also the mastermind of several important commercial deals on the ATP Tour, including one with the Shanghai Municipal Government to stage the Tennis Masters Cup in Shanghai from 2003 until 2005."

A quote from Rafa´s Facebook

This morning I woke up with one of those news you'd never want to hear. Our friend Brad will leave the ATP to fight a terrible disease. He will always have us on his side with our support. Go Brad, be strong, we love you!

Brad Drewett : A perspective Empty Re: Brad Drewett : A perspective

My friend's mum was diagnosed with MND in December 2009 when she was 59. She sadly passed away in April 2011 when her condition got worse. It is a terrible disease and towards the end she couldn't swallow or move a single body part.

I wish Brad all the well in his fight against this disease.

Sad not nice.
