6 Nations best performers prediction game
I've devised the following game for anyone to get involved in. It is designed to work in conjunction with ESPN Fantasy Stats.
Rules
Pick a selection of 5 uncapped players and 5 capped players from any of the 6 Nations teams. You must pick at least one player from each nation, capped or uncapped, it doesn't matter.
You may not change any of these players at any point during the tournament, therefore pick wisely or risk it all, up to you! If you miss the first week of the tournament then simply add your 10 players to this thread and you'll receive a 50 point penalty (due to having a better idea of who is likely to shine in the upcoming matches).
You must have a 50/50 ratio of uncapped and capped players, ie no 40/60 or 30/70 etc
Most importantly, of your ten players, you MUST have a player from each of the following positions
Front Row Forward
Second Row Forward
Backrow Forward
Scrum Halves
Fly Halves
Centres
Outside Backs
So to recap.. 5 uncapped, 5 capped & at least one player from each nation, and one from each of the following positions FRF, SRF, BRF, SH, FH, C, OB. Simples!
Scoring Points
Man of the Match - 20 points
Players ranking on ESPN Players stats for each position (FRF, SRF, BRF, SH, FH, C, OB):
1st - 10 Points
2nd - 7 Points
3rd - 4 Points
4th - 10th -1 Point
So as you can see, if you pick man of the match you get a huge score, but you also get points for picking top performers in different positions. Have a good think about it and make sure your uncapped players are in fact uncapped. You may find it easier to pick players by going to this page...http://espnscrum.fantasyleague.com/PickableList.aspx?type=101
Good Luck!
Here are my selections...
Uncapped: 1.Sean Maitland (Sco, OB) 2.Eli Walker (Wal, OB) 3.G Fickou (Fra, C) 4.Pat MacArthur (Sco, FRF) 5.Paul Marshall (Ire, SH)
Capped: 1.Jamie Heaslip (Ire, BRF) 2.Leigh Halfpenny (Wal, OB) 3.Tomasso Iannone (Ita, FH) 4.Ben Youngs (Eng, SH) 5.Richie Gray (Sco, SRF)

Re: 6 Nations best performers prediction game
Wait, I was of the understanding that no one was playing with scrum halves this year...
I mean... with the retirement of Mike Blair, Cusiter's injury, Laidlaw's loss of form... Pyrgos's inexperience... Kennedy's impending puberty... Niko's unfortunate Fijianness...

Re: 6 Nations best performers prediction game
Come on people.
I want 'IanBru knows everything about rugby' to become one of those self-evident truths, like 'A finite whole is greater than, or equal to, any of its parts' and '606v2 is crazier than two nuns in a sex shop'. Only more so.
That's not going to happen if you don't join this competition.
Forget ESPN final fantasy XVIII. This is where it's at.

Re: 6 Nations best performers prediction game
FYI Paul Marshall isn't even in the Ireland squad! If anyone wants an Ulster player, the only one likely to feature much is Rory Best.

Re: 6 Nations best performers prediction game
So I can chose five from:
Uncapped
Wales
James King, Andrew Coombs, Josh Navidi, Andries Pretorius, Eli Walker.
Scotland
full-back Peter Murchie, wings Sean Maitland and Tommy Seymour, centres Alex Dunbar and Peter Horne, scrum-half Sean Kennedy, hooker Pat MacArthur, lock Grant Gilchrist and back-row forwards Ryan Wilson and Chris Fusaro.
France
Centre Fickou, prop Ben Arous, prop Yannick Forestier, lock Jocelino Suta, lock Sebastien Vahaamahina, flanker Pierrick Gunther, fly-half Jules Plisson and winger Vincent Martin.
Italy
Alberto De Marchi prop, Davide Giazzon flanker.
Ireland

Back row Chris Robshaw England
Scrum half Mike Phillips Wales
Outside half Johny Sexton Ireland

Re: 6 Nations best performers prediction game
Sean Maitland has been bagging me a lot of points as has half 'a penny! Glas a Du bagged two man of the matches in rd two, Half penny and Robshaw.
Lots of uncapped players yet to get a go, but no doubt some of them will be brought on in next 3 weeks to get blooded or replace likely injuries.

Everyone's is du, only Sean Maitland has really been bringing in points. I really thought fickou would be getting a go and many others, I'm sure some will get blooded but every coach has been very conservative so far.

I think we have all learned one unarguable truth:
You can't trust the French, even when you pick four of the buggers.
