The one in England being a Champions League tie played 3 to 4 years ago. Purely a guess, but I reckon that game was the Chelsea-Barcelona one in 2009.

It's really disappointing to see that a match in England has been targeted as England seems to have stayed relatively clear of match-fixing. I'm not sure whether Premier League games have been investigated, but if they have, it's encouraging that none of been accused of being fixed.

I'm hoping that the match that was fixed was a relatively meaningless one.

Not going to be a high profile game involving millionaires is it.

Most likely a group game, with either low earning players or some officials bought off.

No pl player is likely to be involved as they are extremely wealthy.

If it's a Champions League group game in England it'll definitely involve millionaires.

I too think the obvious choice is the Chelsea-Barcelona game. I said at the time it was fixed because Chelsea battered them and UEFA didn't want the same all-English final two years in a row.

More than likely its a group game against a meh side.

Very much doubt its a semi final, attention of the world on that game.

Chelsea Barca would be one of the least likely if we're being honest

You'd have to be stupid to think that Chelsea barca game was fixed abidal was sent off for next to nothing!

This game fixed will involved players on low money, a pre qualifier or group game probably against a team from Eastern Europe.

I have a hunch it might be one of the Utd home games in the CL where they have nothing to play for.

Valencia draw springs to mind

Abidal was sent off harshly but Cheksea should have had at least 4 penalties!

Who stands to gain from that? The network were paying people around 100k maximum.

It will be some Eastern European team.

Well that's a lie, why would he send a player off for a team he was supposed to be fixing the game for?

Have a word.

Yeah, but if he were fixing the game for Barca he wouldn't send a player off would he.

Are Chelsea fans still sore over this, you won it last year beating Barca in the semis

One of the games involved Liverpool. Debrecen keeper paid to make sure there was over 2.5 goals in the game. Liverpool only scored 1 Laugh

You can see why the over 2.5 was picked for that game. We really needed a massive win, very similar to 2 years earlier when we hammed Besiktas 8-0.

That just shows how bad we were that season, we coudn't even manage 3 goals against a bribed keeper.

Debrecen have confirmed that it's that game being investigated so that's that mystery over.

I don't think anything can sum up Liverpool in recent times better than they couldn't score more than 1 vs a keeper who tried to concede

My pal used to go out with a Scottish Footballer, he wasn't very high profile, he was well known within the Scottish scene though, particularly in the 90s and the early part of the 2000, decent striker for the standard he played at, anyway, one day she told me and some of my mates to get as much money as we can on him scoring the first goal, he was out with ligament damage so we questioned it, she just told us to get on it, anyway, we lumped on it, I was a bit dubious so I only put £20 on it and he started the game, scored a penalty within 2 minutes and was taken off with a injury moments later.

Now just for the purpose of this thread I'm not suggesting this was anything other than a loving girlfriend having faith in her man to score a goal

It was him that told me about the first shy bets

Anytime I see a team kick off and launch the ball right out the park as if they're aiming for a winger I'm always dubious

Funnily enough Liverpool kicked off most games like this under Houllier. They used to try and pick out Heskey for the knockdown.
