Will it be the loan scenario again? Empty Will it be the loan scenario again?

First post on this new baord, so here goes. Last week SG said he was glad that we had a break because it allowed him time to concentrate on doing some deals before the window closed. he actually said that we should expect to see 2 or 3 new faces before the weekend. that never happened and again yesterday we failed to bring anyone else in except a young keeper on loan. At the same time we cleared the decks of 10 players either sold, released or loaned out. So whoever it was we were going for refused to come and thats quite plain, so why?

Every team in contention for promotion has invested in new players and many are from the Premiership. QPR were already favourites but added 3 prem players yesterday, so I think they are now odds-on to go up. Leicester now have a quality premiership side and might make auto now, but will be in the mix. My point is that all these teams are going for it, except us, even though SG has tried and failed. Promotion this season guarantees over £200m. Staying down in this league will prove too hard to get out next year. We could see teams like Wigan, Wolves, Birmingham, WBA, Blackpool etc come down, but they're all well run clubs who don't pay what they can't afford. Their players are all on contracts that have penalty clauses which makes them take a drop in wages if they come down, and even those that don't only pay sensible wages. So it's not like Hull, Portsmouth, Ipswich who had to have a fire sale when they got relegated. All these clubs will keep the same side next year and waltz back up, and on top of that they'll have massive parachute payments which will take them out of our league money-wise. It's not fair but thats the way it is. We will not go up next season.

So the only option open to us, if indeed we have any chance or desire to go up, is to bring in some quality premiership loan signings soon. If we don't forget it.

bates is always bragging about players walking over glass to come to Leeds, well that shows he talks shyte, because nobody came and it can only be because bates won't pay wages. thumbsup

SG is now saying it will be a couple of weeks before he can do anything. Well Simon that may be too late as we slip even further behind our rivals. last nights game yet again proved a point. Hull have bought well recently with a mix of youth and experience. They used Koren effectiveley against us, and this was the same player you could have had in the Summer on a free. The type of midfielder we need. When you tell the fans to expect 3 new faces before deadline day and nobody lands, it shows we are not willing to pay decent wages and a lack of ambition. failure to go up this season and another 15% increase in season ticket prices, I hope will generate a lot of problems for Bates and our unknown owners. prem prices for the last 5 seasons ...... Last january we had the same problem and an unsettles striker that almost killed our season. Beckford had earned a pay rise and a new contract, but he was offered no pay rise and an extension thats all. If we had had beckford still on our books this season he would have fired us closer to promotion. Hooper banging in goals in Scotland for fun as usual, yet another player we could have had.

Will it be the loan scenario again? Empty Scoring not a problem

Doc, we aren't having a problem scoring goals. What we need is a defensive midfielder and some defenders.

This season has already been blown apart and we're slipping further behind automatic promotion. How can we drop another 4 points at home, scoring 5 goals in the process. Norwich were beaten last weekend, but as usual our defence came to their rescue, and last night to concede 3 goals against Barnsley was criminal. Bates and Grayson should have used the transfer window to shore up this defence, and a good central midfielder who can break up attacks. So even if we bring in someone on the emergency loan market this week, we've still missed out as its too late.

Swansea at the weekend, who are the best footballing side in this division, what odds on us picking up points. We may not even make the play offs at this rate, and were lucky last night that leicester dropped points, otherwise we would be 7th already.

Bates :yellow card:
