Discipline and Lions selection
After Healy's thuggish behaviour I wonder if Gatland will write him out of the Lions. Many on here have previosuly said that Hartley shouldn't tour due to his perceived lack of discipline. Does this mean Healy may not tour?
I think Healy sereve a 6 week ban for the stamp which could easily have broken Dan Cole's ankle and ended his season. Another 2 weeks for the short arm jab to Tom Youngs head at the ruck. If he misses 8 weeks will Gatland still select him?

No, he will not be left out, Healy is the best player in his position and it is an isolated incident. Hartley is a thug with a long list of incidents which he was banned for and general thuggish behaviour on the pitch.

Re: Discipline and Lions selection
That would be two isolated incidents in the same match....how many incidents does it take for it not to be isolated?

Re: Discipline and Lions selection
I'm afraid that I agree with JmD.
Healy's behaviour was unjustifable and very worrying but we'll wait until Healy also serves a 27 week ban for gouging, an 8 week ban for biting and a fortnight on the sidelines for tw@tting another player on the jaw in full sight of the referee before we start comparing the disciplinary record of these two players with a straight face.

Re: Discipline and Lions selection
Healy was stupid, and he should be made 100% aware that behaviour like that won't reflect well on Leinster, Ireland or the Lions. He should be told that if there is a repeat of that shocking cheap shot he will NOT be going to Australia. Marler, Grant and Court although nowhere near as destructive would all be able to give a performance for the Lions.
Noone is irreplacable IMO, but we can't make an example of him when other potential Lions tourists (Hines springs to mind) have in the past been naughty in a game of rugby.

Re: Discipline and Lions selection
There's a difference between one bad incident and consistently poor discipline.
Healy has nearly 40 international caps with this game against England the only thing of note.
Missing a huge amount game time might hurt his chances but his discipline won't be an issue.
Many players have at some stage over the years done something they aren't proud of. Jamie Heaslip once got a red card for deliberately kneeing Richie McCaw in the head. Bradley Davies did the most horrible off the ball spear tackle last year.
The difference is that Dylan Hartley have multiple bans for biting his opponents, punching his opponents, eye gouging his opponents. Year after year, time after time.
Methinks this article is trying to create an issue where none exists.

Healy has been cited once in his career. Are you saying all players that have been cited once shouldnt tour? That rules out:
Manu Tuilagi
Sam Warburton
Bradley Davies
Adam Jones
Chris Ashton
Gethin jenkins
Dan Lydiate
Justin Tipuric
Ben Youngs
etc etc
Should Danny Care not tour for his off field indescretions?
Sorry this is a really dumb article. Healy is a shoe in to travel. Excuse the pun.
