Top Fighters Living in Fear of Other Top Fighters
GGG is a prime example. Take your pick in the MW division, NOBODY wants to fight him, absolutely no one. It's a shame, as Golovkin would happily step up and face the elite,IMO.
Is Ricky Burns living in fear of Adrien Broner? I don't think so but it has been said.
Andre Dirrell? Man, he doesn't want to fight anyone decent, EVER.
Fury vs Price is another good one. I'll admit i ws being a WUM when i said Tyson wasn't afraid of Fury. I think he is a bit fearful of him, although i'd give him a real chance, 50/50 split of taking out the big scouser if they met. Both good for boxing in different ways.
Who else?

No. But i do think he is wary of him. I also thing Price lacks confidence too. 50/50 in that regard.

Why would you say "Price is a scared guy"?
Thats nonsense. I can't see what evidence you base this on.
How can you say GGG will step up and fight the "elite"? Again, evidence please.

Because GGG has offered the elite a fight and the elite have said no.
Price lacks confidence Jabmachine, a moron can see that.
And please, disguise your attacks on me next time, this is too easy.
Deception is key in war, Jabmachine.

Which of the elite has he offered a fight to? At the moment he seems more than happy beating up sub par opposition, nothing on his record or what i've heard suggests he's actively seeking out the best.

Is Cunningham any worse than Maddalone, Rogan or Kevn "doesn't know how to throw a punch" Johnson?

I didn't mean to put that in quite such strong terms, but it is my belief that Johnson is indeed the better heavyweight. He has better wins at the weight, I would cite his performances over Damian Wills and and Devin Vargas. Obviously I'm not trying to suggest either man is a world beater, but they are good level domestic opponents in the U.S and Johnson beat them easily enough to suggest he is a level above.

Vargas and Wills are reasonable but far from big wins that happened 4 and 6 years ago, a time where Johnson had a little bit of ambition left in him, those days have been gone a long time and he is just going through the motions now.
I doubt anyone in the top 30 would have any trouble outworking him over 12 rounds anymore.

Never said Price wasn't a top fighter. Just that he has fought stiffs and bums at best. And that Fury is better. Why do you constantly misrepresent the most simple things? You sound like a less intelligent version of GW Bush.

Yep. All Fury's vistims are bums and all Price victims were decent.

GGG wanted to fight Geale and Geale did quite literally run a mile and dropped his belt in order to not face him. Geale's generally rated as a top 5 guy in the weight.

Yeah that was pretty shocking. Not sure whether or not Pirog's back injury that forced him out of the GGG bout was legit or not, but I still respect Proksa for taking the fight short notice and he seemed genuinley up for it. Same goes to Rosado.
I'm just trying to edge this thread away from being all about Price...

Good work Ballchinian. Pirog is an interesting one, so talented but so inactive.
Surely if he took on GGG that be huge in Europe? And draw attention from HBO? And make these guys big enough to demand a fight with Britain's MW's at least?

David Haye had that back problem pulling out against Wlad.
That was well placed fear.
When they actually did fight Haye personified that fear.
Why cautious Wlad didn't just go in there and mash Haye up I'll never know.

Great shout. David Haye was obviously afraid. No boxer is a coward and all boxers are superbly brave. However, there is a boxers fear, a survival that takes over when they feel they cannot win and could be hurt. Haye had that fear.
Antonio DeMarco had the other type of boxer fear. Knew he couldn't win so went out kamikaze style. Stood there and traded with a man he knew had faster, stronger hands.

i thought geale was stripped of his belt, when he already had a fight lined up? maybe im wrong but from what i remember he was told he had to fight GGG immediately and he refused as he was already scheduled to fight mundaine in january. the same belt that sturm was allowed to fight for time and time again against whomever he wanted. as mundaine was the only fighter to beat geale (via SD) then i dont blame him for wanting that fight.

Only really seen Broner's highlight reels but he's quickly become a pet hate of mine. In much the same way as I find Degale an irritant of enormous proportions, Broner is someone who I would cheerfully headbutt...on the hour...every hour...for an hour!
He may very well be a smashing fella...sadly, all I've seen is him being a massive b_ll end.
So, whilst I'd be delighted to see Gavin wipe the floor with him, it's highly unlikely and I'm not sure I want to see Broner prancing around with his phalanx of hired helmet polishers proclaiming him to be the saviour of boxing, mankind and men's haircare all in the same breath.

One of boxing's biggest myths that Haye pulled out of their first fight due to fear or injury.
Now, Wlad pulling out of the Chisora fight with injury? That's another matter entirely (cough)

Haye realized he was in over his head.
Pulling out gave him an easier route to a paper title and a bigger pay day when he had something on to table to negotiate with for a Wlad fight.

Re: Top Fighters Living in Fear of Other Top Fighters
One of the excuses I'd say. I believe Adam got screwed in the fight negotiations and it made sense to jump for that reason also.
It was the wrong time for Haye for various reasons.
The route Haye took ended up garnering him a lot more cash.
Haye running around the ring when they did fight showed more than a healthy respect, more like fear I'd say.

I dont think he knew he would get a WBA title shot at the time. Chagaev was the champion and been out for a spell and as far as I can remember was obliged to rematch Valuev at some point anyway.
When Chagaev stepped into Hayes place originally it should really have been a unification bout with Wlad.
I dont think Haye anticipated any of it, it just happened to work out that way once he had withdrawn after Setanta collapsed.
