A few years late but on at last?
Nathan Cleveley finally has his fight with the man he got that title from. Jurgen Braehmer was of course stripped of the title but he is now lined up to fight Cleverley if the Welsh man gets past his current mandatory.
I think this could be the fight for Cleveley to start again. If he were to win both these fights then he would rightly (arguably) be a real world champion. Well as real as you can be in this alphabet age.

He's the worst champion in the 17 divisions of boxing. Look through the list of current world champions.
Pure paper.

Well at least Braehmer is kind of goin in the right direction in terms of opponent strength, although he hasn't fought anyone really either. I agree that Cleverly is one of the flimsiest paper champions currently holding a title. My attitude towards Cleverly now is 'take all his talk about fighting a big name with a big pinch of salt' and 'wake me up if he ever actually faces a top contender'.

How old do you think Frank is waiting for Hopkins to get before he actually makes the fight?

Mandatories have not meant anything to Warren of late, so if he takes this fight it will be because he believes it to be low risk. Agree with most other people; moving in the right direction, but wake me up when he fights someone interesting

It's still a bit rubbish because Braehmer is rubbish but not quite as rubbish as Clev's recent opponents so, a step forward I suppose.

i dont think brahmer would be a bad fight, in my eyes he has to beat brahmer to be consider champion, i wish he would stop spouting off about a unifaction fight though, it wont happen in 2013, mark my words. i bet he fights enzo this year.

Nathan... sigh.
I fear it will be several years before Nathan steps up. He needs to leave Warren and get with Hearn. Vital.

i dont blame frank entirely, burns has done alright by him in the same situation and the level of his opposition, and the frequency in which he fights embarrasses cleverly

I love the fact that Braehmer was his mandatory, then got arrested & charged with GBH then there were injury issues - he's pulled out more times than a Catholic who doesn't want any more children.
He's still not very good though (lost to Mario "I've got an Iron Chin, honest" Veit), and is probably way past his "prime" at 34.
If I was Cleverley, and more ambitious, I would ditch the WBO bauble and go looking for the big fights in the USA.
