Thoughts on Matt Schaub Empty Thoughts on Matt Schaub

I've always saw him as a bit 'meh' really. I think he can control an offense effectively but really isn't the guy to take a team to the next level. Do people see him as a quality starting quarterback or as a serviceable guy who has inflated stats because he has a beastly receiver in AJ? I think with the running game and D in Houston, he will be fine but is he a top ten QB?

As a Texans fan, my opinion is when the brown stuff hits the fan, Schaub is not the man to take us on. He gets the team to the playoffs then seems to fall away. A good QB but nothing more. Without Johnson, who knows what predicament the Texans would be in. I'm willing to give him another go, but if it's the same old, same old next season im looking for a quality rookie to come in for 2014.

I think Schaub is a decent enough serviceable QB who will win you more games than he throws away.

That said, the games he throws away are the bigger ones and so when you have finally reached the promised land of the playoffs like the Texans have done, you kind of get into trouble.

I wouldn't be thinking about replacing him just yet as the team is run first, but I wouldn't be throwing money at him either.
I thought he was set for big things after say (2009?) when he had the monster year... maybe helped a lot by Dre'... but it has tailed off since then.

Schaub is a game manager, won't lose you games but can't step up and win them either

Agree with the above posts. He's a middle of the road QB. Reliable, but not exceptional. I want it to work for him, but for a team that keeps knocking at the door of the next level, the Texans may eventually need to find someone with that balance!

I'd say he is somewhere between the 12-17 range in terms of QB's.

He's a game manager, but he's not an Alex Smith type game manager. Yet to do it really when push comes to shove though
