Certain to end in tears.
Incomprehensible that Blackpool didn't do more to retain Appleton, unless perhaps they received a significant payment to release him.

Re: Paul Ince named Blackpool manager
I think Ince got the job on a couple of reasons tbh.
He's the cheap option, who's now got a bit of a point to prove. The 1 year rolling contract deal is actually a smart move on behalf of Blackpool, he'll probably last the season but can't see him getting a full season under his belt meaning it won't cost them much to pay-up his contract.
Only other reason is because Thomas Ince is still at the club, maybe working with his dad might just be enough to put off bidders in the summer and could be the difference in him staying for an extra 6 months.

Re: Paul Ince named Blackpool manager
Enigma has it right - he's cheap, available, has a point to prove, his contract is easily paid up, he can get his son to stay for a bit (who knows, maybe another season?)...plus he's black, which goes down well with the LMA and gets Blackpool a bit of support from the bigwigs.
I can still see Paul Ince having a good managerial career. His Blackpool team isn't great, but if they can get a couple of loans from big clubs, he could get them up next season.
