Eddie Hearn : "Rees performance deserves another title shot"
Is this what it's come to??.....A guy wins one round...gets battered.......pulled out in five and yet because he took his beating like a Man and showed off he deserves another World title shot!!
If he gets one and wins it.. how stupid will it look having him as Champion of the World when Broner will be Champion of the World at the same weight!!...
How low can Boxing go??...Get him back in the queue and make him earn one!!

Fair point, but Broner is NOT all that, he got whacked a lot too.

Go away you very very sad person....
As for davide you're right mate but it was one sided kid.......Surely other title shots should be for dodgy decisions..

True, but Broner cannot be in that mindset when he steps up to world or elite level. He'll get bopped.

If Rees isn't world level or been shown not to be...what..makes him deserve another crack....
Is this the criterion..........
Thanks for your mature responses though....one wally is enough for any thread..

The best bits of your posts are the dramatic pauses...silence...golden bliss
You don't like Rees, we get it. Did it necessitate another post? Yes, Yankee doodle dandy Broner won. Hip hip hooray, 4th of July, 2nd Amendment etc....

Don't think he should go straight back into a world title fight after that. Rees was pretty much dismantled. But the Lightweight division is pretty weak at the moment so it wouldn't take much for him to be a belt mandatory again pretty soon
The WBA title is vacant isn't it?

Like I've said a THOUSAND times, perhaps someone will read this time, Hearns has been talkign up a fight between Rees and Abril for a while now, and he said if he put in a good shift there was a chance that HBO would want to pick that fight up which would be fantastic for Rees, that was mainly the whole point of putting Rees in with Broner, to show that he's no mug and can fight at a decent level. Whether it succeeded and impressed HBO remains to be seen.

Re: Eddie Hearn : "Rees performance deserves another title shot"
Well if John Murray can go from being stopped by Kevin Mitchell in a good domestic fight (and we all saw what happens to Kev at world level) to fighting Brandon Rios then this would not surprise me. However,I agree with Truss; time for fighters to earn their shots by winning fights against other credible contenders and not through a back door of getting beat down and looks like an easy defence for someone.
I thought Rees' speed and movement would have caused problems on Saturday but in all honesty he won the first round and tired badly and this was before Broner had done any serious damage to him. This is not enough to be offered another title shot and quite frankly before Saturday night he had not been near world class since Kotelnik dispatched him.

Two wrongs don't make a right Mikey........The fact Murray was caked off Mitchell and gets rewarded with a title shot is laughable...
Certainly doesn't help Boxing's credibility...Thanks for the post.

Re: Eddie Hearn : "Rees performance deserves another title shot"
Rees has never deserved a title shot.
He should not be considered the calibre of a contender. It makes a mockery of the great boxers of old.
Rees got a shot at Broner and took his beating. Truss is right he should earn another title shot first.
