Ravenhill Redevelopment Empty Ravenhill Redevelopment

Post by Rava Thu 21 Feb 2013 - 12:07

Most of you will know I don't post on 606 any more but I have popped in to put up some photos of the progressing redevelopment at Ravenhill. Feel free to make comments or leave any questions. I will check back and answer them if I can.
I'll keep updating as we progress.

Looks good. Like the nautical references in the steelwork. OK

Has there been a bit of rain there lately?

Ravenhill Redevelopment Empty Re: Ravenhill Redevelopment

I am little confused. Should say though Ravenhill is looking great, and these new images look brilliant. However I am wondering about future training facilities.

Does my memory serve me right in saying that Ulster are moving all training to Ravenhill? That's why there is a basement under one of the new stands for a gym? But where will Ulster do the rest of the training? What about that pitch behind the stand, will that be used? Has anyone got any info on it?

Cheers Rava.

Jay my understanding is that Ulster hope to obtain the use of the pitch behind the Aquinus end for training, but that negotiations arent set in stone just yet. Pitch would need a lot of work to get it up to the standard required, but I guess that shouldnt be a problem.

Just the back pitch? Having a look on google earth there is just one pitch? Surly that won't do? Is Newforge really that bad that we use one old football pitch beside a school to train as a professional outfit?

How many pitches do you envisage us needing for training Jay?

Surely two or three pitches would need to be the minimum for a team that would train almost every day. With the weather it is normally I would imagine they would need more than one, especially with scrummaging practice - and then the academy!

Don't really know much about it, just wondering really. But like I said I could imagine Ulster needing a lot more than this.
