Re: Festivals 2013
I went to V Festival last year with The Killers, Snow Patrol, Noel Gallagher headlining. Stone Roses were headliners as well, but went to see David Guetta instead.
I'm going on holiday this year so can't afford a festival as well but I think all the line ups have looked very weak so far. Reading and Leeds biggest name is Eminem, despite those being traditionally rock festivals and I sort of like Biffy Clyro and Fall Out Boy but they're not massive headliners and wouldn't be enough for me to want to buy a ticket.
I thought V Festival looks awful as well. Wouldn't want to see Beyonce, Kings of Leon are good but the rest are fairly average with maybe 3 or 4 bands that I'd be interested in seeing.
It'll be interesting to see who Glastonbury pull in because there simply doesn't seem to be enough big bands playing UK festivals this year to get a good line up. Unless they're doing Glastonbury only. Beyonce might do it, but she did it last time Glastonbury were about.
I was worried that I'd regret paying for holiday and have to find the money to go to a festival as well, but the line ups have all been a bit meh for me. I'm glad I went last year and didn't wait until this year.

I went to a day of V last year, and saw Noel and The Stone Roses. The rest of the acts were pretty bland and poor to be honest.
I'm thinking about going to T in the Park this year. Hell of a drive though. Has anyone been before?

I went to T last year. Really enjoyed it, the Scots really know how to enjoy themselves. Being a Londoner, you'll stick out like a sore thumb.
We drove up from Portsmouth, so stopped over in Abingdon on the Wednesday night, and in Glasgow on Sunday night, to make the journey slightly easier.

That's part of why I'm asking
I wondered whether southerners will be accepted up there generally, or if they are rare...

Glasto for me, and I cannae wait. Had a look at V Festival but, for only £15 less than Glasto, I don't think the price justifies it seeing as the acts aren't really my cup of tea.

I forgot about T in the Park. That looks the best of them so far, with Glastonbury yet to reveal their line up, but even that isn't great. Don't really like Rihanna and I think Mumford and Suns are hugely overrated. Then the undercard is a bit 'meh' really, only really 3-4 I like. Would only go to see The Killers again.

Wanna go the Download festival as the lineup is looking pretty beast but already told the wife, we can't afford a holiday this holiday so no way i can justify the £500+ i'd need to go!

Put it this way, the guys in the tent next to us were from Manchester and they were referred to as Southerners! It was a really good laugh, and everyone was welcoming. I didn't see a hint of trouble.
