An Awful HBO Commentary Moment
I'm re-watching the Mayweather vs Judah fight.
It was a good first four rounds, and a very interesting second round.
Along with several rounds against Castillo (one), Shane's right hand, A couple of Cotto rounds and a few pressured ODLH moments; there aren't many times I've seen him as flustered as this.
Anyway, the second round commentary. Listen to it, particularly at the end of the round when they are discussing the knockdown and trying to justify why it doesn't matter. Creating hindsight as they go. Shocking, lol.

Very bad commentary (except from Lewis) at the end of the second round. Clear knockdown and a great counter right hook

Mayweather v Cotto fight commentary was remarkable. I actually thought they were discussing another fight. Pure Floyd nut huggery.

They don't seem to know the rules, "He may have got an extra point if it had been ruled a knock down". Of course he would get an extra point.

It's quite bizarre how veteran commentators can't just look at that replay and immediately say 'oh, that was a knockdown'. He hit him in the face and his glove touched the canvas. No two ways about it.
And my god, Mayweather is good isn't he? Sometimes you need to watch him again to be reminded. Such amazing accuracy and punch variety. Always seems to work out the punch or combo that the opponent doesn't like and takes it from there. He's an a'hole, but he's no doubt the best boxer of his generation.

Great points. Mayweather took Judah apart aye? Systematic, patient bet down. Never seen someone snatch will from an opponent so consistently.

It didn't stop Floyd leaving HBO and joining Showtime. Apparently Floyd jumping ship has sent a few shock waves through the industry. Some people at HBO must have thought Floyd had some loyalty...........

yh although it'll be weird seeing Floyd on showtime (having been on HBO for so long) + the fact that HBO's synonymous with boxing in America (first channel I think of when watching a fight over there) - their commentary is abysmal.
