Injured against Welsh and not recovered: Hoani Tui, Dean Mumm & Jason Shoemark
Injured: Brett Sturgess, Si Alcott, Chris Whitehead, Aly Muldowney, Tom Johnson, James Phillips, Josh Tatupu, Gonzo Camacho
Quite nervous about seeing Alex Brown get his first prem start tbh. Otherwise, the strongest team we could put out

If any of the Quins fans are going to the game and fancy meeting up for a beer beforehand, then give me a shout - I'll have my 5-yr old lad in tow

Re: Harlequins vs Exeter Chiefs
The two top try scoring Prem teams - so that'll be a 3-3 draw then.
Very glad to see Dave Ewers back from injury and coming off the bench last week. I'd thought he was out for a bit longer.

Literally I won't be happy unless there's man-shaming envolved (by Quins, on Exeter).

Re: Harlequins vs Exeter Chiefs
Interesting that Chisholm is out of the side completely and OLH starts, I hope he has that amazing performance that everyone's been saying he can produce.
Otherwise a pretty standard team, think Easter at lock should be alright for this one, the Ex pack isn't a scrummaging colossus is it?
A few players have been pretty sub par so far this year Big Mo, Evans, JTH and Williams in particular. I hope now that the finish line is in sight and it's a fight for the home playoff's these senior guys will come to the fore

No, not really, the bulk of our front rowers are injured. Of those on display tomorrow, last season they were playing for Cornish Pirates, Doncaster and Doncasteryappysnap wrote:Interesting that Chisholm is out of the side completely and OLH starts, I hope he has that amazing performance that everyone's been saying he can produce.

Should be a decent game tho - this is a meeting between the prem's top two teams for:
1. Tries
2. Passes
3. Carries
4. Metres carried
5. Defenders beaten
6. Clean breaks
And bottom two for kicks from hand

I will try and up my intake if it will help me live longer, although at this stage I have no real desire to be impregnating women in my ninetiesAsLongAsBut100ofUs wrote:B91212 wrote:And yet your profile tells us your 100 years old. Can these Sky one eyes not see a forward pass - to Monye in the build up to the H'quins try? Commentry is shocking and very one sided.

Re: Harlequins vs Exeter Chiefs
oh dear me!
Just got back, and The Chiefs had one helluva game! Congratulations to them, they had a belter and a head of steam for the full 80.
Quins started off well with Monye's try, and went down hill from there, in no short part to the constant pressure from Exeter. The forwards hit the break down hard and didn't take a backwards step.
Righty-o, that's the one off-the-boil game Quins are allowed for this year ....

Re: Harlequins vs Exeter Chiefs
Very well done Exeter. You boy's looked committed and up for the fight all game. Quins on the other hand didn't seem to care and I got the upsetting feeling that they just thought the win would come anyway.
Probably the worst home performance that I've seen us display in a few years, a real lack of energy and passion from the whole team. I don't think a single player performed at the level that we've come to expect and if we keep playing like that I can see Tigers over taking us as well.
We desperately need Robshaw and care back in the team, Easter must go back to 8, Kohn needs to get fit quickly and so does Evans. Finally 13s a real issue, Hopper has always seemed flaky but Lowe is still struggling back from long term injury.

What you need is that sort of dependable squad player. You know the sort who can cover a number of positions to a good level and never lets you down with a series of unflashy but effective performances. You knoiw, a Matt Smith kind of player

I knew some of those comments would come back to bite me.
We could always go the other route and just sign another teams first choice using a few shady salary cap dodges, or Rands...

And to top it off we release Stegmann on Monday, and then he goes and scores a try with more pace, precision and acceleration coupled with footwork than any of the Quins team showed all day today.
Karl Dickson spent more time running backwards with the ball today then forwards!

They were the only team to beat us home and away last season. Something Sarries, Quins, Clermont and Ulster did not manage.

This was the first game for a long time I have seen Quins players not turn up. Did anyone else just see JJ lumber from scrum to scrum and not make one pick up and drive?

Re: Harlequins vs Exeter Chiefs
Not just JJ George!
Only four players looked like pro rugby players yesterday Gray, Robson, Wallace and Turner-Hall. The rest were either injured (Evans and OLH) or just not at the races (everyone else).
The back three (with Evans in there) - looked utterly useless in attack, gave little threat for Exeter to deal with and the two/three times that Monye did get in a position to skin his opposite number he looked like he was running through treacle. They were all shown up by a 19 year old who looked far better then them on his debut!
The centres - Hopper for a while now has been panicky, but took it to new extremes on Sat, dropped just about everything passed to him and when he did get it never ever decided to pass, just ran at contact. JTH boshed a lot which is what we want, and actually used his hands, but still offered little.
9 & 10 - For me where we lost the game, Evans missed easy kicks and looked like he didn't want to be there. Botica when he came on tried hard but you could see he felt under pressure to win the game and that undid him. Dickson had a shocker, looked flustered all game, didn't control the tempo and i'm fairly sure ran twice as far backwards with the ball as he did forwards.
The backrow - Wallace gave his all on Sat, took numerous knocks and hits reclaiming high balls and jumping on anything loose, at every breakdown he tried to slow or pilfer. It's a shame he was the only guy doing this though. Guest was M.I.A all game, Mo had one contribution: being brushed off like a child by Chiefs monster centre.
The locks - Robson tried hard all game and was very good in the lineout. Easter isn't a lock and was pretty much anonymous for 75% of the game.
The front row - Lambert is average, but that's to be expected when you have Marler and JJ starting. He did enough. Gray tried hard but struggled with the Exeter physicality on his own. JJ was ordering his Domino's at Sarries new ground, only putting in an appearance at scrums.
I feel a lot better for getting that off my chest.
I hope OLH's injury isn't bad, he actually looked dangerous before it and it'd be a real shame for him to be out for a while now.
Once again well done Exeter, by a country mile the better team on the day, I am very very glad that we won't be playing you in the playoffs!

Hmm - with OLH injured we may regret releasing Stegman early to Welsh!

I regretted Stegmann going as soon as I saw that try he scored against Saracens!
Really worried about Monye and Williams on the wings now, especially with the centre's struggling.

Re: Harlequins vs Exeter Chiefs
Everything else seems to be in good shape - but we do need to get those 12/13 combo working.
Hopper has shown glimpses of real game breaking tallent but seems to be in a bit of a form dip at the moment!
Lowe seems to be struggling a bit...still coming back from injury.
The 1 real positive is JTH is showing some real confidence and is back to form.
Other options - Tom Casson, showed good glimpses in previous games but will he perform at the business end of the season?
