The future of Boxing in the next 10 years ?? Empty The future of Boxing in the next 10 years ??

Where do you see the sport going......Will all the alphabet groups still be in operation...Will we have just as many belts......will the Sports fanbase improve or decline.....Will the ABC boys find more ways to increase revenue at the expense of Boxing.......

In the next ten years my prediction is three round world title fights!!.............I think most of the purists have moved on in disgust and todays fans want ACTION...Hence the rise of MMA and prizefighter.........Of course we'd still have the twelve round equivalent..

However what an idea for the WBC/WBA etc under the guise of giving the fans what they want they create more huge revenue streams...

Next ten years I see Boxing continuing it's downward spiral..unfortunately...

I don't think things are going to improve to be honest, I think boxing will continue to be a minority sport while team sports will grow in popularity & we will see the rise of what I consider boring spectator sports such as cycling, golf, the marathon & fishing, all sports that seem to get more tv than boxing. All are sports that more & more people are taking up on whatever level hence more fans want to watch. Even though team GB came first in the Olympic boxing I still see other sports & the athletes that took part that were successful , being bigger personalities & their sport getting more coverage. It almost seems like a conspiracy at times to keep boxing down.

3 round world title fights I'm not sure, but as you rightly say the success of prizefighter & mma you wouldn't rule it out, especially if the alphabet boys think they can make extra cash. Yes the belts probably will increase, it becomes an easier sell to the broadcastors.

With the possibility of both Kbros retiring in the next 3 years its going to open up the division more but I don't see that there are going to be better HW's fighting, as we've said many times the big guys are going into other sports that pay far more in the States, historically the country where most of the top HW's have come from.

Warrens latest situation isn't looking good & could be the shape of things to come. On a more positive note we are always going to get decent fights at what ever level the guys are at & there some decent ones lined up as well as Floyds 6 fight deal.

The rise of the liberal limp-wristed left will push 'brutal blood sports' like boxing further and further to the margins whilst, as sohotnot says, 'safe' family friendly tosh like fishing etc get more air-time.

Bloodly hell TopHat, I know you're slightly to the right of Genghis Khan but can you not leave politics out of anything....... Whistle

Who have been the most vocal opponent of boxing? I would say the British Medical Association. They are hardly the most inclusive of old boys clubs are they? Almost certainly full of more right of center members than limp wristed lefties.

There is certainly no conspiracy, left or right wing to keep boxing down, it does a perfectly adequate job of that itself. That won't change unless the sport has a fundamental shift away from sanctioning bodies which isn't looking likely at the moment.

I'd class fishing as a 'brutal bood sport'.

Fish are people too, you know.

I don't have any friends, real, imaginary or electronic. But if I did, they would almost certainly be annoying socialist feckers as well thumbsup

Quite admired that Chavez chap. When I say admire, I really mean I like his name - Hugo Chavez. Up there with Lionel Jospin and Imanol Harinordiquy.

In 10 years time I expect Cleverly will be 49-0 and looking to break the legends record with his defining fight against a resurgent Bernard Hopkins

It may not be all bad. I'd assume there'd be a possibility, by association, that you'd get to throw one up one of his groupies?
