England in 1991 had a truely great big pack with the likes of Moore, Leonard, Probyn, Dooley, Ackford, Teague, Richards and Winterbottom. In contrast the Welsh forwards that got outplayed by that England pack at Cardiff that day in 1991 were the exact opposite from their English counterparts, with guys like Glen George, Alun Carter and Paul Arnold making up the Wales backrow, and a very lightweight Welsh front row of Brian Williams, Kevin Phillips and Paul Knight. Anyway, supposing that Wales back then in 1991 had the current 2013 Welsh set of forwards to select to from to play V England that day at Cardiff in 1991, would this have given Wales a significant edge that day thus allowing them to maintain their then unbeaten record V England at Cardiff since 1963?

Of all the things to attempt after acheiving time travel is taking 8 monsters back to 1991 to play a rugby match really the first thing you should do?

I am just interested to know this as I did keenly follow rugby union that time, when the union game was still an amateur game and was arguably a lot more better to watch without all the adverts and rugby league style tactics being adopted by teams.

Never understood that thread myself, who cares who can jump highest without lifters, with todays technology and training techniques most backs can jump higher than forwards, and all players would be able to jump higher than the highest jumpers before the pro era (within reason)

Can't compare... different sport. Lineouts meant locks had to be lighter and more agile. Props were smaller etc.
I still think the Lions 93 pack was the best NH pack I've ever seen though (started from the 80s)... containing a number of the ENG GS 91-92 sides.
ENG pack is not a world beater.. even AUS had the shove on them in the AIs. The bokke are still the pack to test yourself against.

Any home nations team from 2013 would hammer any home nations side from 1991. You cant compare the eras! I doubt the 1991 team would have any idea how to go about breaking down a modern defense. in those days you comitted 8 forwards to every ruck and maul, while the backs numbered up.
Besides the 1991 England team simply tried to win penalties, they'd never impose themselves on the 2013 Welsh team.
