606v2 ATP Picking Game: Miami Masters
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the official start of the 606v2 ATP Picking game. I hope this will be well received and catches on for Masters and Grand Slams at least. Any questions welcomed. Good luck and thank you to anyone who plays
How to play:
- Every player has 23 picks. All picks must be used in mens main draw singles matches. The points besides each fixture represent the points you score if that player wins. If your pick is wrong you LOSE 10 points. Whoever has the most points at the end of the tournament is the winner. To play post your picks on this thread, try to number them. A valid pick must be in the format Player A def/over Player B (Winner First). By the end of the tournament all 23 picks must be used, unused picks will be counted as losses. You are allowed to post picks each day until the match starts, so please check the order of play. All picks posted after play starts are invalid and can be replaced. A pick is void if a match does not take place due to withdrawal or a change in the draw but is valid if at least one point is played (so retirements count). Each player will also be able to place “Djoker Cards” on any THREE of their 23 picks. If your "Djoker" pick wins you earn double winnings if he loses you will not lose any points. In case of more than one player being tied on the same score, the tiebreak will be number of right picks, if still tied then by 1st highest scoring pick, 2nd highest scoring pick
Ferrer (6) - (16) Haas
Gasquet (32) - (3) Murray
Murray (4) - (27) Gasquet

I'm 23 points behind you BB! Then again, like a muppet I didn't read the instructions on the packet properly and was left with 3 screws left over, or in this case minus points before I even realised.

Not sure about everyone else, but I'm now shooting for (the somewhat meaningless) best W/L record as I'm too far behind. Scant consolation after watching the three of you blow us all away, though!

I did back against Djokovic with a Djoker earlier on. Just picked the wrong one - I should have known a Wee Keira rollover guy would be the key!

Re: 606v2 ATP Picking Game: Miami Masters
Table will be updated later. Wasn't up late enough for Djoko game and had to get to sixth form this morning. As said Ryan has an almighty lead. Going to walk my dog and will then update the table
18 Cilic bt Murray
19 Haas bt Simon
20 Berdych bt Gasquet
Looking forward the next event will be Monte Carlo and possibly depending on success i will perhaps begin doing atp500s with Barcelona first on the list

Unfortunately Julius I have only just seen you djokered Cilic as I usually write all picks down as they are made..would you happen to remember his value? I think it was 18 so will give you 36 points however I'm not 100%.

Re: 606v2 ATP Picking Game: Miami Masters
Sounds right, pretty sure JWT was 5 so Cilic would be about that range. I'm just counting picks cos a few of you my w/l column doesn't represent what you say you have
Pretty sure the table is
Ryan 233
Bog 129
Lydian 94
Julius 75
CJB 61
Silver 56
Born 14
But going through picks individually to work it out.

Re: 606v2 ATP Picking Game: Miami Masters
Should be correct...a few of you I think have incorrectly numbered picks but only Born Slippy will not have enough. If you think I am wrong I am willing to recount. Weird to see the person with the worst W-L record at the top but an inspired Djoker pick has won it for Ryan who'd otherwise be in minus values

Ah, yep, I've got confused with the numbering when Raonic withdrew. I have used all 3 Djokers though.
Haas v Djokovic
Ramos v Blake
Sela v Tipsarevic.

Re: 606v2 ATP Picking Game: Miami Masters
Lads if this is something that is continued through Slams, Masters and 500s then a ranking system would be an interesting addition. Would people find this a good addition and if so what do people think of this scoring system. Tried to base it around real rankings with a Grand Slam double that of a Masters win which is double of an ATP 500. Suggestions welcomed. Gone for 10/12/15 as a hopeful number we can aim for. We have 7 in the first addition of a Masters event so I believe 12 is a reachable target? Could cut it down to 8/10/12?
Positions | 1st | 2nd | 3rd | 4th | 5th | 6th | 7th | 8th | 9th | 10th | 11th | 12th | 13th | 14th | 15th |
Grand Slams | 500 | 350 | 175 | 100 | 75 | 70 | 60 | 50 | 45 | 40 | 30 | 25 | 20 | 10 | 5 |
ATP Masters 1000 | 250 | 150 | 100 | 75 | 60 | 50 | 40 | 30 | 25 | 20 | 10 | 1 | N/A | N/A | N/A |
ATP 500 series | 125 | 90 | 75 | 60 | 50 | 40 | 30 | 20 | 10 | 1 | N/A | N/A | N/A | N/A | N/A |

Re: 606v2 ATP Picking Game: Miami Masters
I know this is a lot of advance but with Rome Masters and Roland Garros I am due to be taking exams so help would be welcomed. Although if anyone wants to they can run a tournament...the old 606 if I remember used a format where people just volunteered for events...am happy to run them all if no one fancies it though

I'd be up for running one, CJB. I think I'd need some advice on how the values are set and so forth, but definitely in the future. I echo BB's thoughts, it's a good addition to the forum! Thanks for running it.

I can't see winner of Ferrer/Haas winning this tbh. Murray v Berdych will be key and can see Murray being around 6 to Berdych 18 but who knows
