Derek Chisora - Why is he still relevant???
What is a Derek Chisora fan all about???.......He's hardly exciting to watch and yet despite losing four out of his last five five fights his return is still heralded........
If you like seeing some poor innocent guy in a club get hammered by the town thug do you like this guy?? If you take pleasure in watching someone's life turn into a car wreck do you like this guy??... If you like Kyle and Springer do you like this guy???
Derek Chisora is still a relevant and lucrative commodity and I don't get it???............

I never understand it either truss. He does seem to get more chances than most. But he surely cant afford many more losses before people lose interest.

In fairness he got a good shot off on Vitali which most opponents haven't.
Pity it was at the weigh in..

Yeah, if he ever was relevant that time has long since passed.

I think he is probably a bit better than his record appears at a glance. Would rank him as a similar level to fury.

Re: Derek Chisora - Why is he still relevant???
You might have a point...The fact he came in at 6ft and 18 stone probably flattered Fury that night.....

Re: Derek Chisora - Why is he still relevant???
Most people thought Fury would lose that fight , he won it and it wasn't that close though a decent tear up. Since then Fury has beaten everything in front of him, I think we need to see him lose before saying he's of a similar level to Chisora, I personally think he'd batter Chisora if they fought now. Chisora might beat Price mind you, if he managed to lightly brush his temple...

Thing is 6ft 18 stone is like the muppet Alexander coming in at 6ft 3 ish and 19 stone against Vitali........
Giving yourself no chance....
But you could be right in your assessment...Diggers...

I think the chisora that turned up to the vitali or haye fight would give fury some problems. Fury might still win, but think the fight would be much closer than the first one. Chisora's biggest problem now is the way his record affects his marketability for future fights.

Re: Derek Chisora - Why is he still relevant???
Chisora gets respect because he fight the best challenges out there. Yes he may lose but at least he is fighting top quality opponents rather than fighting tomato cans like most other boxers do. Boxing fans complain that the best fighters are always ducking each other. At least Chisora is not ducking anyone.
I also think his fights are exciting. The haye and Vitali fights were both entertaining.

Chisora is as good as it gets for us.
He is nuts which means he is entertaining. Boxing needs a good guy, bad guy and a hell raiser like Chisora.

Personally I think he's got a pretty crowd pleasing style and has shown a greater desire to fight the best than any other active heavyweight.

Re: Derek Chisora - Why is he still relevant???
I have to admit that Chisora at least has some charisma about him. He has made me laugh on a few occassions. Unlike Haye I don't get this sudden feeling that someone is trying to conn or hoodwink me with Chisora.
He wont get far in boxing he just does not have the tools but he has heart. I respect him more then Haye who I just can't stand. I hope good things come Chisora's way, although he has done some crazy stuff he has not resorted to exposing his bare behind on national television like that fame hungry lady of the night David Haye.

I think Haye try's to be unpleasant to sell fights, I think Chisora is basically just an unpleasant thug.
But then again its not like I actually know either of them but Id probably rather go for a beer with Haye who can at least converse without seeming like a mentalist.

I'd like to see Bill Hicks off his head on angel dust tearing Bush Sr.'s arms off.

Yeah you go for that beer with Haye and at the end of the night you realise that you brought ALL the drinks. Haye is up his own a**e and TBH his exploits at cruiser intantly forgettable, his heavyweight career so far?....instantly forgetable.

I'd probably expect Chisora to shoot me.
I'd like to see how likeable Chisora came across after 2 weeks in the jungle , he'd probably kill someone or eat them.

Chisora doesn't conform......He brings out the rebel in everybody and I can understand that......
I rebel regularly too.......Like kicking over the XBOX everytime Rob beats me..
But I'd imagine you'd be on tenderhooks in his company all night..

Re: Derek Chisora - Why is he still relevant???
Chisora is relevant on a domestic level and will give any euro level operator a good fight. That's his level and that's all most people expect. He comes to fight and some people like his eccentric antics.
Not much more to it than that.
I can't say I like much of what I hear about his out of ring behaviour.

Bill Hicks was the greatest comedian/social satirist of his generation - his passing was a great loss to humanity.

Not bad mate - anything new with you?
Might put a bit of Hicks on later - very good for developing critical thinking.

He sure is - loved his tearing apart of George Michael and Debbie Gibson as well. One of the funniest men who has ever lived, and I imagine an amazing fella to have a coffee/joint with (Hicks stopped drinking in about 1989 didn't he?).

If you lament the loss of Hicks, check out Doug Stanhope. Not as political but just as rant filled

I've often wondered the same thing about thee. Kidding. He is relevant because he is interesting out of the ring and not stone cold boring in it. He is reelvant because the HW division is pap
