Welcome to the 4th Addition of the OMPL.
After a long break I now bring you the latest and greatest prediction game in the history of 606v2! With a number of people either not commiting last year or choosing to miss putting predictions down for every week I have decided to come back with avengence.
As with every great game changes must be made in order to keep it relevant, fresh and keep its players coming back....so with that being said I have made some minor adjustments to the scoring rules so please read them & ensure you understand.
Scoring
• Predict the winner - 1 point
• Predict the method (KO*/Pts) - 1 point
• Predict Early / Late (for KO) or Unanimous / Split / Majority (for Pts) - 1 point
• Get all three above correct - 3 bonus points
• 10 points will be awarded for correctly predicting a draw.
• Wild Card – Each week you are to select two fights as your WILDCARDS (put a W next to your picks). This fight will score double for you.
• Upset of the Week – Each week I will decide an ‘Upset’ Fighter…If this fighter is picked by anyone and they win then there score for that fight will double.
Rules
• *TKO, DQ, TD or Retirement all count as KO
• I will list fights 1 - 10, this list will be definitive, when predicting please list fights in the same order.
• Any entries that are subsequently amended will be void.
• If a fight is cancelled, or if a fighter drops out and is replaced, that fight is then void.
WEEK 6 FIGHT RESULTS:
UPSET FIGHTER OF THE WEEK: Noe Gonzalez Alcoba
FINAL STANDINGS PREMIER LEAGUE:
Congratulations are in order for another new title winner of the OMPL. Trenchtownbaboon shall forever have his name written in the history books as he claims the title in Season 4. In what was the most nail biting conclusion in the history of the OMPL there were plenty of people in with a shout of winning heading into the final week. A mere 8 points separated the Top 4 in the end. Last years champion Tomfinneywalksonwater will struggle to hand over the title to the new king of the prediction league having ran him so close all season. With both finishing on 183 points it ended up going to the dreaded count back and with Trenchtownbaboon securing a score of 51 way back in Week 2 he takes the title due to having the highest weekly score. Well done to the following people bhb001, WHU_Champo_League, Boxxthis & Manos De Piedra who rounded out the top 6 this season. It is a cruel way to end the season but it is what makes the OMPL so exciting.
PREDICTOR OF THE WEEK TABLE!!
The final predictor of the week award goes jointly to WHU_Champo_League & Tomfinneywalksonwater. The award will come as little consolation for either having come so close to winning the league....but well done anyway chaps.

Re: THE OMPL SEASON 4 COMPLETE: Final Table & Results
Jeez, that's some good going. I consider it a good season if I am top 500,000. Didnt do bad in the sun league though, was second. My final subs let me down badly. Brought Cesar in for Begovic, what on earth was I thinking!compelling and rich wrote:tomfinneywalksonwater wrote:Goal difference! We were level. ha bad choice!!
had a disappointing sun season, think i came fourth in the 606v2 league. missed out on not having bale when he had that month of scoring for fun.
most annoying was in the league with my mates, had a 34 point gap to third (top two got money) going into the last game of the season. had similar teams so thought there was no chance of him catching me....... he had lukaku!!! didn't even start second half hat trick against my own team cost me money!! another mate nearly did it in the premier league one with nolan as his captain (survived by 3 points)

Re: THE OMPL SEASON 4 COMPLETE: Final Table & Results
That's unlucky, the final day was crazy I missed out top spot in my work league by 3 points due to Nolans goals. I had led all season too, then final day my bosses team overtook me. To make matters worse he's a Burnley fan. If it wasn't bad enough them being in the league above Preston, he is now número uno for fantasy football!compelling and rich wrote:tomfinneywalksonwater wrote:Jeez, that's some good going. Re: THE OMPL SEASON 4 COMPLETE: Final Table & Results
I have had an email from the president of the fedlatin section of the WBA lads!! Woop Woop! The contest didn't go ahead in the end so the result is void. I will do the table tonight....few hours and all the suspense will be over!!
Re: THE OMPL SEASON 4 COMPLETE: Final Table & Results
Now for another weird situation. Fringe contending undefeated prospect William Fernando Souza Bezerra had a fight scheduled against journeyman Jose Robson Dos Santos. This fight’s result still does not show up on boxrec, and after googling the heck out of it, I still can’t find any indication that it took place. Boxrec really needs to get an editor for Brazil, and Brazil needs to get some sort of online boxing media. This is getting out of hand. There have been rumors swirling on the internet that Bezerra might not be a real fighter. That is due to the lack of media coverage or even pictures of him in the ring. I can tell you that I was finally able to locate a youtube video of him fighting, so I can verify that he has indeed been inside a prize ring. That being said, even that fight appeared sketchy to me. He scored a knockdown that ended the fight around 10 seconds after the round should have ended, and it seemed to me that the opponent went down from a body shot that barely landed, if at all. The ref didn’t even look like a real ref, as he counted VERY slowly and didn’t even start the count until about 2 seconds after the guy got up. Anyway, unless Bezerra is upset, his fight won’t affect the rankings anyway, so I’ll let it go. I know I have an occasional Brazilian and at least one Bezerra fan reading my blog, so if anyone can hook me up with Bezerra’s results in the future within a couple days of the fight, that would be great.
http://danboxing.wordpress.com/tag/william-fernando-souza-bezerra/
I still cant find the fight on youtube but did find another and it looked like something out of a cartoon.

Re: THE OMPL SEASON 4 COMPLETE: Final Table & Results
FINAL TABLE IS NOW DONE!!
Congratulations to Trenchtownbaboon who has claimed his first and Season 4's OMPL Premier League Title. Commiserations to Tomfinneywalksonwater who ran our champion so close and only lost out on a 2nd consecutive title on countback. I am sure he will be back looking for glory next time around.
A huge well done to everyone involved and thank you to those who consistently predicted this time around. I hope you all enjoyed another edition of this prediction league.
I would like feedback below from everyone in order to help with next season and where we go from here, so if you could take the time to quickly give me your opinion on the following questions it would be greatly appreciated.
1) We will begin a new game a Week on Saturday but I would like to know whether you would prefer to go straight into another season or whether you would like to do a cup competition?
2) If we do a cup competition which format would you prefer:
a) A straight round robin knockout over the course of a week (this means having to come on and check every day as well as using unknown fighters)
b) A straight round robin knockout over the course of 4 weeks
c) A 6 week format where by you are put into groups of 4 for the first 3 weeks with the two high scorers of each group then going through to the Quarters, Semi's & Final which will take place over week 4,5 & 6 accordingly
3) With regards to the league season was everyone happy with just the one table this time around or would people prefer to go back to 2 leagues in order to give more people something to play for
If you could answer any or even better all of these questions that would be great. Ultimately this is the forums game and obviously I would like to ensure it stays relevant and people continue to enjoy it.

Re: THE OMPL SEASON 4 COMPLETE: Final Table & Results
1) I think a Cup would be best, mix things up a bit
2) The groups format sounds like a good idea, kind of like the Champions League in association football. With a straight knockout format those knocked out lose interest immediately, so I'd go for option c)
3) I'd stick with the one League, maybe consider splitting it if you get up to 70 odd entrants (like the UCPL had! )
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for running this, I know the amount of effort that goes into it and you are taking the idea from strength to strength. The only thing you are missing is a badly edited picture of a championship belt to 'present' to the champion.
Keep it up!

Re: THE OMPL SEASON 4 COMPLETE: Final Table & Results
Cheers for doing this owen
Thought the changes worked very well especially the wildcard. My only thought on it would be if a person puts there wildcard on a fight thats void its pretty harsh they miss out. Perhaps have a back up fight which your wildcard switches to if a fight is cancelled (usually a high profile one that we know willl go ahead)
Also like the idea of a champions league format using this years league standings as seedings

Well done trenchtown. Nicely played. I am of course very happy with my third position and will be reasonably smug all day!!
I'm happy with a cup next time, but a champions league format would ensure that we all continue for a good few weeks. Otherwise, interest dwindles very quickly.
Again, a big thank you to yourself Ozzy. A sterling job in the face of brazilian ineptitude!

Well in trenchtown and cheers again Ozzy, I think a champions league style tournament sounds excellent, but whatever you decide to do is grand. Must take up a lot of time running this league and I really enjoy it. Twice runner up on goal difference, gutted!!!

Shocking performance from me this time around after several seasons of comfortable top half finishes! I think a cup would be good with the champions league type format. Cheers for running this ozzy!

Cheers for running this, gutted to have fallen apart in the last week out of the respectable Blue placed finishes into mid table obscurity. I like the wildcard and the upset fighter of the week they both add something. The champions league style cup sounds good so sign me up if it goes ahead.

Cheers Owen. I believe I managed to finish bottom of those who predicted for every week.
I'm happy to go with the flow for any future decisions.

i'm dorely regretting missing that one week out now, it was a mayweather one as well, probably the easiest wildcard ever. Congrats mate and I second onions post regarding the next competition. Cheers owen

First, well done Ozzy for the hard work & effort in running the league.
Agree with most posters re option c) for the cup competition. I also think that Compelling makes a good point re the wildcard on a cancelled fight. I suffered from that one week.
Congrats to trenchtownbaboon - well done

Ha Sorry Trenchtown ...That wasn't even supposed to be on at all! Im afraid you don't get the actual joy of entering the hall of fame until Season 5 when your name will appear on the list!!
