RVD to return to the E?
This morning, Twitter, was abuzz (well, kinda) with rumours circulating.that RVD has signed two-year contract with the WWE. Close friend, Joey Styles appeared to confirm this on Twitter, hinting that a CM Punk-RVD feud would be a 'awesome', a tweet which RVD retweeted. While this obviously isnt a confirmation, I think that it is beginning to seem like a distinct possibility.
As an RVD mark, I was excited about the news, but truth be told, the guy is getting old, & seeing rolling thunder in slow motion isnt really that fun, so in many respects I would rather he retired. Also, since his 2006, he hasnt always had kind words about the WWE and more to the point, how ECW's re-incarnation was handled. To me it just smells like he will be reduced to middle-card jobbing. Thoughts?

At least he will be on TV - I can't remember the last time he was on Impact!

I really hope he isn't returning to the E, he's for me the laziest worker going and often one that ends up causing injuries to others.

Look, a guy with that move list always comes with dangers. Rolling Thunder is a little more impactful than 'five knuckle shuffle', while the VanDaminator is always going to hurt. But when he can be bothered RVD is as entertaining as anyone to ever cross the ropes.

All he had was his moves and in ring style and they faded long ago, he couldn't promo a hind leg off a donkey so not sure what he would add to be honest.

I will disagree 100% on that statement.

I'm in no way a Cena fan, but there is no way RVD is better on the mic than him!

I disagree to bretmeharty disagreeing. while both are poor I would rather see rvd doing a promo than cena. maybe that's just because I have become so accustomed to seeing cena promos every Monday though that they seem boring and mundane

When was the last time he looked bothered though?
Not through any of his recent run in TNA certainly. The guy is a liability in the ring, a leech of resources that can be used elsewhere and takes a spot on the roster that should be used to push someone new.

Re: RVD to return to the E?
No doubt the hardcore WWE fans will say its an amazing signing!
I do think his UK run in TNA recently wasnt bad but thats after about 2 years of being the leech that Hero called him.
Wouldnt be a great loss for TNA or a great signing for WWE.

Re: RVD to return to the E?
RVD is 10 years past his sell by date. He might get an initial pop if he returned but i dont think anyone would be bothered by him and he isnt even close to being worthy of a fued with CM Punk.
Triple H is doing a stirling job bringing through some top talent in developmental so i'd be suprised if he went against his principles and allowed a non-draw like RVD to sign a deal.

Re: RVD to return to the E?
Look, I personally think RVD is past it. I watched a match of his on TNA a couple months back, and it was painful to see a guy I grew up watching work so slow. With the way Time works (forwards), chances are he has likelier regressed, than progressed. But you dont get over with a name like "Mr. Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/ Friday Night or the Whole Damn Show unless you have a cult following. Plus kids always love seeing guys jump around like monkeys.

A monkey would draw more than RVD.
Personally i can't see it being anything other than short term gain long term pain.

If the monkey had a dancing gimmick and catchy entrance music it could.

Re: RVD to return to the E?
At least the audiences would get to do something different than hurl abuse at Cena.
A large group of fans pointing their thumbs at their shoulders and going "Rob...Van...Dam" looks pretty good on TV.
Being serious, I've been a fan of his for ages but have to say his performances for TNA over the last few years haven't been anywhere near his former greatness. That said, during that time he's been more or less a mid-carder...even when they gave him the X Division title. He was never involved in any good storylines or interesting feuds, so I think his lack of effort/interest can at least be partly attributed to that.

Re: RVD to return to the E?
Dry, I would look at it the other way and say that because of his below par performances he was dropped to the midcard. When he first joined TNA he was billed as a.huge star winning the world title. There was very little during that run that was any better than his recent showings.

Re: RVD to return to the E?
RVD is one of my all time favourite wrestlers so I'd be happy if this was true. Haven't seen his recent stuff but still would go apepoop to hear that 'ONE OF A KINNNNNDDDD'

Re: RVD to return to the E?
he's yesterdays news. i always liked him but he's not main event calibre, simple as that. i would rather barett/cesaro/kidd/orton all get pushed than rvd. as for the other thread with bobby lashley, please dear god no. never liked him before and with langston and ryback/mark henry/lesnar we don't need anymore big men. he was an embarrassment in his mma run.

Re: RVD to return to the E?
God I hoped we had seen the last of RVD, apart from his first 3 months in TNA he done absolutely nothing and you could count on the one hand how many guys he actually put over in TNA
As for WWE, I wouldn't want him back but I suppose there is a lack of top faces on RAW for CM Punk to go against without bumping into Cena so in that sense it might not be the worst move, also, I do think CM Punk can be hampered by guys who are so used to the WWE style so a match with RVD who works on the fly could be entertaining, I just don't think he has enough value now for me to believe hek4 anywhere near CM Punk's level
Has RVD's views changed on weed? I think that would be a major stumbling block for Vince

Doesn't seem to matter too much for Swagger, Bourne, Kingston, Orton, Booker T etc

Re: RVD to return to the E?
I think there's a difference between using it privately (even if they do get caught) and being such a staunch public user and supporter of it, it doesn't bother me in the slightest but I'd see it as a major contradiction if Vince suddenly didn't mind one of his talent being publicly recognised for his support of Weed
