Maidana V Matthysse (Lucas)
Got me thinking that this would be a cracking little fight. And from what I seen from both boxers recently, i would probably be going against the grain with most of yers and go for Mattysse.
Thoughts?

Did you know they sparred in the Ams? Close fights apparently and quite violent.

No I didn't. This probably makes this fight more interesting

I didn't even mean sparred, I meant a proper fight.

Nice one Scott
Very interesting read. Crazy, 7 years later the could both be fighting each other again.
But from what I've seen from them both recently, I would go for Lucas. He actually got Corley out of there and was very impressive in defeat against Judah.

I think Lucas is quite nderrated, he dropped a SD to a guy who out-paced Mayweather for four rounds and has looked very impressive generally of late, and how many times did he deck Corley? Less than ten but not by much.

Yer I think it was 9 times.
The good thing is he's nothing like his brother. Throws combos, has good hand speed, has good power and has a good chin.
He was unlucky against Judah aswell, that could have went either way. No robbery by any means, just a close fight.
Dont think people think much of this fight then

Saw a feature on this on boxingscene a couple of months ago.
Whilst writing, the top active Argentinians fighting in Matthysse, Maidana and Martinez all have exciting styles.
Maidana and Matthysse both adopt the 'macho' style which is embraced by their nation, much like Monzon who was loved even when it was public knowledge he beat his wife/s and girlfriends.
Martinez fights with a real flair but not just pure brute strength like the others (Monzon not inc as don't know enough about him) and supports anti-bullying and domestic violence charities but is largely ignored by his nation, which he said in an interview as he's seen to not be 'tough or macho' enough, albeit that might have changed in the last year!

It would be a war. As was mentioned, they went head to head in amatuer trials with Maidana getting the nod narrowly.
I thought Matthyse won the Judah bout - he's no joke. I think he'll give Alexander hell. A very ballsy fight to take for Devon straight after the Bradley defeat - and may possibly be a mistake.
Matthyse is in the mix and would be good to see with any combination of the top LWW fighters: Maidana, Judah, Alexander, Khan, Bradley.
Both Argentinians are tough-as-nails with great punching power - just maybe a bit too crude to really make it to the top of the pile, but a threat for anyone who's not on the ball for the full 12 (just ask Khan). Against each other it would be a slugfest.

Lucas would beat maidana and fairly easily IMO. They are both crude but Lucas has more skills and a brreraa chin. Maidana is a power puncher but I think his power is overrated. He has a high workload however although the last very rounds his punches have little snap to them. He got decked numerous times by ortiz and Lucas is a heavier hitter than ortiz at LWW imo. Marcos looked uncomfortable with morales' power recently and was backed up despite morales' slow hands and weak power.
