Does anybody care about Albert Ramos?
I rate him as the poor man's Nadal and I tip him to reach Barcelona finals if he doesn't meet the road block in Rafa before it. Got a sensational win over Jerry Janowicz from a set down today.
Ramos has a very good serve, great forehand and a competent Backhand, never say die attitude and fair level of stamina, yet this Spanish never achieved anything special in the ATP tour, I hope this could be a breakthrough year with wins over Cilic, Jerry and other meaning full names, with no more Ferrer, Ramos a clay specialist if applies himself can go deep.
Good luck Ramos.

Re: Does anybody care about Albert Ramos?
Thank GOD finally there is somebody to discuss with me regarding Tennis outside the Nadal-Djoko warfare.
LF how do you see this 25 year old fare this year? can he break into Top 15?, in my view very likely if he remain injury free.

I also saw him play well against Verdasco @USO 2012 as well. I cannot find the video
The h2h with Nishikori does not bode well though - http://www.atpworldtour.com/Players/Head-To-Head.aspx?pId=R772&oId=N552
This one was a good match as well - http://www.cbc.ca/player/Sports/Tennis/ID/2198383399/?page=13&sort=MostPopular

Re: Does anybody care about Albert Ramos?
Well the problem with Ramos has been the consistency, while he has a good stamina for a given match he doesn't have that for the tournament.
How do u see he fare in Barcelona?

He may be able to win against Kei, but Nadal is a tough cookie to crack.
It is a tough place for Ramos being overshadowed by his more famous colleagues. For example, he could have been born British and would have been considered an asset.
He played DC against Canada and won the consolation tie against Dancevic, but lost the point against him earlier.
I like his game better than Granollers. if GGL was younger, I think he would have played instead of Ramos against Canada.

Well I don't expect him to win against Nadal either, but if it happens that would light his career for sure.

Re: Does anybody care about Albert Ramos?
Nadal has had wobbles, most recently at MC. Ramos on fire, and the results are tough to predict.
Ramos is almost the third string of players for Spain.
BTW, I should have stayed away from this - https://www.606v2.com/t43379-grading-nadal-s-comeback and just continued our discussion here.

Ramos took out Nishikori today. Good for Ramos, but bad for Kei.

How did Nishikori play? I just need a general Kei Performance Indicator.

Looks like Ramos is going down the pan, but still a good tournament for him. Robredo's on the comeback trail as well by the looks of things.

Good day for Rafa... as a notoriously slow starter maybe 2 matches in one day is just what he needed to make him a little sharper. Ramos is not an easy opponent normally but I think Rafa gave him a tennis lesson today

I missed the match, looking for the results couldn't find it and when I checked in the morning Rafa bagelled him in the 2nd set.

2 matches in a single day? did it rain yesterday Haddie? no wonder I could not find the results of Paire vs. Rafa, I seriously expected a bit more of a fight from both of these players. Anyways Ramos would have learnt something from today's match.

Re: Does anybody care about Albert Ramos?
Yes ic rain stopped play yesterday Rafa played first thing today
Well his match against Paire was 7-6 6-2 He didn't have a great start against Paire but as we know, and I have said, Rafa is a notoriously slow starter so by the second match against Ramos he was in the groove... he actually looked a lot sharper than when he was in Monte Carlo so as I say the two matches in one day did him no harm. But as I said on another thread Rafa never practiced pre Monte Carlo and he deserved to be beaten by Nole quite frankly. I think it made him sit up and knuckle down a bit. Lets hope so .. some of Rafa´s shot making today was more like Rafa
Not to mention that it says volumes about Rafa´s fitness

I really like to see king of clay back to his best and his poor version Ramos make it to top 15 by the end of this year.

The second set bagel was inexplicable. Nadal won 12/16 points on Ramos's serve and was broken in every service game. Bad day at the office.

Nadal's form is such that he bagelled Raonic the next round, so now Ramos bagel seems fine for me.

Ramos beat Berlocq at Oeiras (Estoril is so much easier on the tongue).
