The Beatles' albums, and which is your favourite
Must be some great fans of the Fab Four on here; if so, which of their (many) masterpieces is your favourite.
It's got to be 'Revolver' for me. Aside from the dreadful Yellow Submarine, it's nigh-on perfect. Great mix of acoustic and heavier numbers, and the difference between John and Paul's compositions was really starting to become marked and apparent by 1966.
Impossible to pick one standout track from it in my opinion, basically because it's fantastic all the way through, but 'Here, There and Everywhere' in particular is one which leaves me amazed. McCartney at his very, very best.
Pepper would complete my top three along with Rubber Soul, but Revolver just stands out as the best, for me.
Thoughts?

Love em
I like Revolver best. For No One and Your Bird Can Sing stand out for me. Must admit, I do like Please Please me. Some great songs including a couple of fine covers.
St Peppers is ok, but was possibly better in it's day.

Nice to have someone in agreement. Taxman and She Said, She Said are pretty fantastic too.
Interesting that you think Pepper maybe sounds a little dated now, though? I still think it holds up well. Not one hundred percent sure if it's better than 'Pet Sounds', but it was still a great reply to it, whatever the case!

I am a massive Beatles fan and for me Rubber Soul is their best album. I absolutely love it. Norwegian Wood and In My Life the stand out tracks for me.
I think it is a very well crafted album, very diverse with some great guitar work on there. Its very Dylan-esq.
I also love Please Please Me the album. Starts with I Saw Her Standing There and ends with Twist and Shout. Brilliant.

To be honest, there are only a couple of Beatles albums which don't really blow me away, and they're probably 'Beatles for Sale' (although 'What You're Doing' is a real underated and largely unknown gem on that one) and 'Let It Be.' Still good albums, just not quite at that amazing level they had for the most part.

She Said She Said is a great tune.
Anyone have The White Album? It has the fantastic Dear Prudence on it, but some not so good as well. That's maybe why I haven't bought it.

White Album is good on the whole, I think (and I agree that 'Prudence is one of the top tracks on it) but it's a bit too sprawled out and long-wided at the same time, so not one of my very favourites. They could easily have done away with a good ten filler songs from it and left the good meat 'n' bones. Helter Skelter, Julia etc were top tunes for me.
Probably a slightly overrated album from a historical sense, I guess.

I can appreciate the Beatles but am not a massive fan. Rubber Soul and Abbey Road are the stand out albums. In fact, put the first side of Rubber Soul with the second side of Abbey Road and you'd have a hell of an album.
P.S. showing my age somewhat with reference to "sides" but I've only ever listened to these albums on my dad's old vinyls.

Chris
have you seen the film 'Across The Universe'? It's a pretty good film, which is obviously aided by some great songs.
On anther note. Across The Universe for me is arguably their best song.

Really enjoyed that film Stella, some great songs in it. Good song too. My favourites are Back In the USSR, Get Back and Octopus's Garden (I sing it to my daughter at bedtime )

Prefer Wings, the band the Beatles could have been.

Decent-ish film I guess, so long as you're a Beatles fan. I'm not in a great rush to see it again!
Literally impossible for me to pick a favourite Beatles song, as there's probably twenty-odd that I've called my favourite at some point or another, but as it goes 'Across the Universe' wouldn't be amongst them, for me.

I'd have to say my favourite Beatles album is the Best of the Beatles.

Would it be blasphemy to say I am not particularly bothered with the Beatles. Given how massive they are and how much some of my friends are into them god knows I have tried. Do like some of their songs, quite a lot to be honest but have never really managed to get into their albums massively. There are a number of sixties bands I much prefer to them if I’m honest.
