Broner at 140
Broner is a stepping up to 147 to fight Pauli Malignaggi on June 22nd which i think will be a comfortablw win for "the problem", and providing he is successful Richard Schaefer has said it a a possibilty that he could fight the top fighters at 140. I personally think at 140 or 147 which ever weight he decides to stick at there is plenty off opposition to test him better than his been testes till date. Garcia, Mathyse, Khan, Peterson, are the most likely candidates due to a very small chance of him fighting top rank fighters how do you guys think he will cope at 140 against his stable mates or if he was to fight guys like rios, alvaerado or bradley. Do you think he has tha cabaility of cleaning out the divison or will he be found out? I personaly am not sure because although im not convinced by him yet, i do think his they type of fighter who perfrom depends on the quality of oppisiton, and the harder the opposition the better Broner will perform. Khan has the ability to out box him, Garcia and Mathyse have the ability to knock him out, peterson has the ability to bully him and rough him up to a decision, so i personaly dont know, what are your thoughts?

Re: Broner at 140
I actually think Peterson would be the most difficult for him. He has pwer, can nulify his opponents strenghts (ala Khan) and can also take a punch too. He has a great inside game which Broner aint quite had to deal with at the higer weights. He has had it his own way fighting smaller lighter guys and then proclaiming to be some sort of God.
After seeing how easy Rees hit him in the first 2 rounds, and ponce de leon travesty. I think he is taking this game for granted.
The 140+ guys are no mugs and they will have more than enough to give the problem plenty of problems.

That's the acid test, the lightwelterweight a
I rate Broner pretty highly, but I also understand that he is no mayweather. I remember a way back on the p4p lists that's my had Broner top 10 and I couldn't believe it. SFW was an awful division and he was just too big for them, and he almost lost to De Leon (a blown up SBW) . Demarco is de met but he has been beat bad before and was getting drubbed by linares untill Linares chin gave out again
He's always set to punch, hence his power, but it means that its harder to get out if the way and doesn't have the reflexes to use the shoulder roll like Floyd could. The LWW can bang, especially Lucas and Garcia, and if he takes shots like he did from Rees he won't be smiling
The potential is huge and he could beat them all but we don't know atm. Welter is pretty stacked atm also so lets see what he does next

Re: Broner at 140
this might sound a bit ambitious but i think khan will hand broner his first loss, he has the range to stay away, the speed to match broner and the size to not be bullied.

Style wise I think Broner is all wrong for Khan. I just can't see how he survives when Broner hits very hard with good accuracy and great speed. I imagine Khan being ahead on the cards as Broner starts slow usually just sizing the opponent up for two rounds. I just see no way Khan avoids being taken out when Broner is so good offensively when he's not being so lazy. The last 3 guys he's stopped have all had better chins than Khan but he hurt them with every shot before getting them out of there, they may not be in Khan's league skill wise but Khan is not so good he can avoid being hit clean for the full 12 rounds.

Re: Broner at 140
khan is capable of boxing and moving, like he did with maidana, as of late he gets drawn into a brawl and picked up a few losses, but if he boxed to a plan, i think broner would struggle to find him, he doesn't throw a lot and likes boxers to walk him down, so he can counter. i would be a great fight and one i see happening this year if they both keep winning.

Re: Broner at 140
Broner does have power but he has never faced a guy of Khans speed. I think if Khan keeps it long range he has the possibility of winning pretty comfortably. I dont think any of Broners challenges to date are on the same level as khan so its not really that good of a comparison, but agreed if he does tag khan it could be lights out, but he would have to catch him first and i think its easier said than done, hence i think Khan wins.
Having thought about it some more, I think Broner can beat Garcia providing he he starts the aggressiveness early as Garcia is a late starter.
Stylisticly id have to agree with reborn though, I think peterson will be the biggest challenge of the lot mentally and phyically. He can take a shot, has a good inside game and is alot bigger than Broner. Aside from Peterson i think Alvarado (though its unlikely) would be another nightmare for Broner again, he can box, fight on the inside and can take a shot.

Will Broner's carry his power to 140? He's not the biggest puncher despite his record.

I think he will, he sits on his punches and gets his body behind the power shots, sure he doesnt have 1 punch KO power but from what ive seen of him when he decides that he wants to go for the KO he does it with ease

I really don't see the fuss with Khan. What exactly has he done to be held in such high regard?

Duke mckenzie won numerous world titles............
He's beaten some decent fighters...........but no one really special.........
He's a name though and has been well marketed......Not many British names on the world scene.

Khans record bears comparison with Frochs who gets a lot of praise on here, and lets face it Khan is infinitely more talented than Froch whose main assets are a granite chin and loads of heart.

Re: Broner at 140
It's all up in the air right now as Broner simply hasn't been tested against the top guys.
He's done everything superbly so far, no criticisim there, but I don't think Paulie will show us much. Until Broner gets in with a true live opponent of the same size with enough power and skill set to make it a more even match up, then we just don't know where he stands in the rankings.
He's coming to that crossroad.
Floyd passed his tests against Corrales and Castillo, it's up to Broner to do likewise.
