Great "Middle Class" Boxers
First topic message reminder :
Great boxers seemed to be forged from poverty or at the very least a working class background. Some got into boxing for a way out or just to stay of the streets and avoid getting into trouble.
But who are the greats that came from a priviledge background and boxing was their choice not there only choice to make something of themselves.
Barrera was from a middle class background, and I think also Oscar but who else?

Barrera was a former student of law he never got the degree. Oscar used food stamps growing up so wasnt middle class

Re: Great "Middle Class" Boxers
Barrera studied for the degree after turning pro but his parents were both medical professionals so would have him as middle class. Oscar did a piece on ringside a while ago and he made out like he had a tough upbringing so don't think he is middle class.

@Baltimora
Former WBA Featherweight champ Wilfredo Vazquez (Vasquez? Not sure on the spelling). So they probably had a little bit of spare cash
