KOTR Round 1 First Matchup.
First topic message reminder :
Ok here we go, this is the first matchup as the competitors have both sent thier replies to me very quickly so i thought i would get this started.
Below will be the answers from PM's i got off each person and i wan't you to use the poll's to vote for your favourite, very interesting replies because they are very similar, i have set the poll to last 1 day.
The question i asked was:
Who was the worst WWE champion of the last 10 years? - This meant just the WWE championship.
Person A.
The worst WWE champ (not Heavyweight Champ) was Rob Van Dam.
My reasoning behind this is that this was Rob's chance to make me over big time. He was given the opportunity at the same time as holding the ECW belt, and the WWE management were rewarding him for years of service and fan popularity. How did he repay them? By getting busted for drugs.
Some role model and some way to repay the faith shown to you by Vince and Co. Not only did he lose the belt for his actions, he lost it on RAW - thats how stupid he was.
Would he have gone on to better things had he not been indulging - absolutely. However, his title reign will always be remembered for the way it ended and its brevity.
He complained of glass ceilings holding back wrestlers yet Rob having opened the hatch through the ceiling, decided to close it again from inside, just so he could go party with Sabu instead.
Worst champion of the last 10 years - no doubt about it.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Person B.
The worst WWE Champion for me would have to be Rob Van Dam. Granted, Jeff Hardy and Sheamus probably warrant mentions but both have the chance or at least eventually redeemed themselves later on.
Van Dam was almost given the belt out of sympathy for an ailing ECW brand. Vince wanted to give it one last shot at establishing it in the big time, but ultimately failed. His MITB win was unspectacular, up to him actually announcing his intention to cash it in at One Night Stand; the ECW PPV. He went on to win the belt from Cena thanks to interference from Edge and in a big 'who cares?' moment, he became the first man to hold the WWE and ECW titles. His reign had no memorable feud, no stand out moment and will always be remembered for the way he dropped the title. On RAW due to a wellness violation. Known more so for his ability to botch and smoke weed he is easily the worst WWE champ of the last 10 years.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok so just to remind you, you can vote on the following guidelines:
1). You enjoyed reading the reply.
2). You thought the argument was explained thoroughly
3). You just liked the reply!
4). You thought it was informative and well written.
Oh and please try not to vote for yourselves!
Let the voting commence!

Calm down Beer. I didn't realise you thought I was holier than thou as well. It's nothing big - I personally voted for B anyway because I thought their reply was better despite the inaccuracy. Regardless of what month it started (it was announced in May but actually debuted in June), I was only saying it couldn't be considered an ailing brand because it started up at the same time RVD won the belt. How can something be ailing at its inception?
Now am I taking on H or not?!

It wasn't all my idea, I think Hobo suggested it, could be wrong but i also could be right!
The only thing is Crippled, is if that happens it sorta ruins the anonymous thing cos you would know who your opponent was, and so would other people, meaning it could turn into whos the most popular which was one of the flaws that people had with the one on 606.

No problem Miky, don't want to be a pain. The reason I didn't enter in the first place was I thought it would be a popularity contest!
My fault for not paying more attention.
I'll keep voting and pointing out factual inaccuracies. I know how much people love it.

You are correct LBv1, I am not popular with some people on here, though that is mainly because certain posters embrace stupidity and ignorance, and are jealous of my good looks and flowing golden hair.
Miky, I'll happily be the backup to the backup.

Interesting that they both went for the same option though it was probably unsurprising as well. Hopefully future "battles" will have some differences of opinion!
Just a thought, if you were to have the situation of a tie you could offer each participant a right of reply to the other person's article and allow people to vote on that.

Good idea Josh, is that what they call a 'rebuttal'?

Re: KOTR Round 1 First Matchup.
I actually really like that they both gave the same answer. It makes it more difficult choosing but means that you have to really read through them and pick out the pros and cons.
Plus sometimes there is an obvious answer staring you in the face. RVD's reign was about as bad as it gets, given how cheaply the belt was won, how soon he lost it and why he lost it.

Re: KOTR Round 1 First Matchup.
KB - Rebuttal, right of reply... both similar things. If the views were opposing then it would be a rebuttal (i.e. why the other guy is wrong), if they are similar then a right of reply may try to add to / improve the post.
Also, for the final it could be a nice touch to have two rounds of voting and have the right of reply thing as well (if it doesn't take up too much of Miky's time!).

Sorry, i'm probably being stupid but can you explain it in a more simpler way for me to understand what you mean Josh, from what i can understand it sounds like a fair option but i would need to know what would be involved on my part, time isn't an issue by the way.

Miky,
Basically, if it's a tie, the posters get the chance to pick apart each others points and then it would be down to you as the judge to decide who wins.

No problem mate...
Person A writes their article
Person B writes their article
In the event of a tie they can both write a reply to the others article (as they had been published) and then their replies could be voted on by the forum.
If they disagreed with their opponents opinion they could try and show why their opponent was wrong (a rebuttal); or, if they both came to the same opinion they could use a right of reply to improve on their argument so that it is better than their opponents.
The difference is semantical really so no need to sweat about it.
An example would be "Who is the best superstar on the WWE roster atm"
A - Cena because of ... x, y, z
B - Orton because of a, b, c
Person A would then write an article saying why Orton wasn't the best superstar and person B would write one saying why Cena wasn't the best.

Crips if you are so concerned with being "factually correct" you might like to check the thread that people signed up for this event on. You will find that I said I would NOT be taking part.

Dont like that idea at all! I think it goes to a triple threat for the next round if it happens.

Strange co-incidence that both chose the same guy, however it also makes the round far better for me, it takes away the bias of liking one wrestler over the other and really focusing on the posters reasons, personally I would have chosen Hogan at Backlash

Would you consider that given it was for the Undisputed belt?

Yeah, it was the WWE Undisputed and was within the last 10 years, if it wasn't allowed then i'd plump for Batista

Re: KOTR Round 1 First Matchup.
The first two runs with it where pointless, he won it injured then droped it 36 hours later on .com then he beat Jericho and droped it back a week later, his heel turn was excellent which lead to his 3rd reign but apart from 2 promo segments 5 weeks he did nothing and the Cena/Batista WM World Title match that McMahon had visions about for 7 years took a main event back seat to a WM re-match, which was the right decision and in turn backs up my point IMO

After mocking this when it was 1st suggested as nothing more than a popularity contest I must give kudos to Milky the concept is much better than I accepted....
That said both answers are the same so you can't really vote for either... I voted B just because he mentioned Sheamus too
