Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman dies, aged 49
“Slayer is devastated to inform that their bandmate and brother, Jeff Hanneman, passed away at about 11AM this morning near his Southern California home,” states the band’s official Facebook.” Hanneman was in an area hospital when he suffered liver failure. He is survived by his wife Kathy, his sister Kathy and his brothers Michael and Larry, and will be sorely missed.
Our Brother Jeff Hanneman, May He Rest In Peace (1964 – 2013)”

I was a Slayer fan in my teens and have still dabbled in some of their stuff in the years since. Superb guitarist but also a very interesting lyricist, even if some of the stuff he wrote upset a few people!
Sad news. RIP.

Dying as a result of a spider bite. That should be how all "metal" guitarists go.
Not a huge metal fan but recently downloaded "Reign in Blood" and it is an incredible listening experience.

Just defending him yesterday on another thread and am utterly gutted at this news. My favourite metal band of all time, seem them live over a dozen times, met them twice and the picture of me and them in Belgium has pride of place on my desk along my family photos.
Great songwriter and lyricist and responsible for all the great SLAYER riffs.
They say the Devil has all the best tunes, well, Satan's about to meet the guy who made that statement true. I hope he's ready...
Rset in peace, brother!!!!!!

The thrash metal world has lost one of its founding fathers.
I was never a huge Slayer fan, though I do have Seasons in the Abyss, but always rated King and Hanneman as one of the greatest metal guitar duos of all time.
Rest In Peace Jeff (or if you're not up for that - just raise merry hell!)
