Re: Roberto Duran
Thanks for that, DoubleD.
Duran, for me, is Jack Dempsey in miniature. Same unbridled ferocity, will to win, innate ' toughness, ' punching power and under rated defensive skills. It took me years to listen to the little voice inside of me that kept whispering that Duran was a better lightweight than Benny Leonard, but I got there in the end.
Best of all time at lightweight, for me, an absolute cert for top fifteen, p4p, of all time, and probably in the top ten.

Re: Roberto Duran
I have him as a top 3 lightweight. The Old Master, Joe Gans would be my personal choice as the best ever pure lightweight and then after that it would be very nip tuck between Benny Leonard and Roberto Duran.

Hey Windy great comparison with a minature Jack Dempsey i can see exactly where you got that from, and aswell his defensive skills. I feel alot of people looked over his defense because he was such an attacking fighter but if you look back he was very hard to hit cleanly, with that style not to get too much is a fantastic achievment in itself. I wish he didnt have such a bad fight with Hearns because that fight really dont show what sort of man he was and the ability he possesed at that time.
