Oldest tennis competition
From the BBC site, today is -
"The MCC Gold Racquet challenge in the Real Tennis court behind the Pavilion takes place on the Saturday of the first Lord's Test each year. It dates back to 1867, making it the oldest singles competition in any form of tennis"
Now you know.

First played in 1899 on the site of current day Xavier University, the Open has been a fixture in the Queen City for more than a century.

Re: Oldest tennis competition
Arthur Marx, 'my' son, was a finalist at Cincy in 1941 - losing to Bobby Riggs.

Marx (12 yo - for example) in 1941, let us assume JHM was 12 yo too, so 59 + 13 + 12 = 84 yo is JHM's age. My hat off to you JHM. You are truly blessed.
PS: Riggs had blown through his competition to reach the final, and Marx gave him his toughest test of the tournament, stretching the future Hall of Famer to five sets before falling, 11-9, 6-2, 4-6, 6-8, 6-1.
