Your Favourite Form of Cricket.
What is your favourite form?
I was just wondering what everyones favourite form of cricket is.
Are you a fan of the one day internationals or is it county cricket for you.
Do you prefer the twenty20 or is test cricket the best?
What say you v2 massive, whats your favourite?

Re: What is your favourite form?
i don't really have a preference, i like test cricket because of it's mental toughness and theres not other game really thats played over 5 days so the skill required to play that length of time is impressive, however 1 day and 2020 cricket have a buzz about them you rarely see in 4/5 day cricket because of how short it is, fielding has come on a long way thanks to one day cricket with every run stopped becoming crucial.
When playing i would have to say i just about prefer 45 over cricket (what i play at my standard) as being a batter it gives me a long potential time to bat for and build a good score. However i do enjoy the short slog you get with 2020

Re: What is your favourite form?
Mines ODI's T20's doesn't bring the best out of batsmen as it's only twenty overs and is basically a slug fest.I enjoy test matches but theres alot of defending and line and length bowling not many varieties and it can be disappointing after 5 days that the match ends as a draw.So it would be have too be ODI's for me.
Re: What is your favourite form?
test cricket is the best, it is a true test pardon the pun, of a player's techinque and shows whether they have the temperament for the highest level

test cricket every time for me, the ebbs and flows of the five day game and all that. T20 is good fun, find ODIs can get really dull sometimes...

Have to admit that T20 is the most exciting, anyone se chris gayle get 107 from 49 balls.

Test cricket for me. All the skills are required to be a successful team and it is truly a battle between the batsmen and bowlers, unlike the shorter forms.

Should only be one answer to this. There's a reason it's called Test cricket.

Re: What is your favourite form?
I've always loved watching test matches and I don't get why some people don't have the stomach for it.
I remember some real nerve shredding moments watching it, and I don't think other forms have that prestige or ability to draw you in. They all seem a little more throwaway.

Re: What is your favourite form?
Test is best for me. I do enjoy all forms though and its great the variety on offer
Each of the formats bring something to the table
Test - True format of the game with pressure building and tactics
20/20 - Excitement of crash bang whallop
ODI's - It can be a good mixture of the 2, and in my opinion, the best to go and watch live, as you get play for a full day and a result at the end of it

test cricket - the only way to see who are the very best players in the world, a test of all areas of a cricketer

I purely picked ODI because its my favourite .Test matches test players the most but for pure watching I would say ODI.

Re: What is your favourite form?
Todays test match has totally changed my mind moments like this I love!
Re: What is your favourite form?
Has to be Test cricket for me. True you can get bore draws (especially if the weather intervenes) but the 1st Test against Sri Lanka was a perfect example of how unpredictable it can be as well.
That said, I've been catching some IPL matches this season and although it seems to have more in common with baseball at times, the drama and intensity does make it pretty compelling. I've also enjoyed watching England in the T20 World Cup.
I guess I'm just a person of extremes.

Absolutely. It is matches like this that show why tests are the best. Nothing as remarkable as that can happen in limited overs games - getting bowled out for 82 when batsmen are attacking is nothing like it happening on the fifth day of a test match when the batsmen are playing to survive.

Re: What is your favourite form?
I'm not sure this is the right way to look at things... I think there is a time for different formats - Test match and first class cricket is certainly the most intriguing and enjoyable if you have the time, but if you are busy then one day cricket is the best way to enjoy a day's play - I personally enjoy going to the Oval at a weekend for a 40 over game, but I can see the appeal of t20 and also watch a lot of that as well, as well as going to as much Championship/Test cricket as time permits.
Re: What is your favourite form?
For me it has to be the test match format. But I did like the old John Player Sunday League format where bowlers were limited to bowling of 15 or so paces and more importantly the players then still had to wear traditional cricket clothing.

Test Cricket for me. Quite enjoy the 20 over thrash but think the 50 over stuff is desperately destructive of technique and an appalling form of the game.

I've watched a lot of ODIs too - going back to the late 70s, 80s ... and still enjoy watching 25 y.o. highlights believe it or not. Same with Tests of course.
T20s - can watch them...but don't live for every ball and retain details of those matches. I won't be watching highlights of T20s in 25 years time - I can assure you.

Has to be Tests.
The others are fun , sometimes quite inspiring when a great batsman is on song , but they don't stay in the memory in the same way.
