Toulon to do the Double?
Teams very rarely manage to win the HEC and their own domestic tournament. From memory, ie too lazy to research, neither Leinster and Toulouse have managed it. In fact I am fairly confident that I read somewhere that on Leicester had ever done it.
Well following Castres thumping win over a disjointed Clermont team at Montferrand, and Toulons own easy voctory over Toulouse, the guys from the south of France have to be well favoured.

LT - Wasps 2004
Clermont may have been better off fielding some fresh players, rather than practically the whole side that were battered in the tackle last week.
Allez Castres!!

Re: Toulon to do the Double?
Clermont were real poor yesterday. Sad to see most players running like headless chickens. Clearly still nursing their dublin hangover. Their scrum was a shamble. Fascinating to see a team that has been quite dominant throw a season to the bin like that.
Toulon showed some resilience and another good defensive effort against toulouse who made too many handling errors to hope for a win. Delon scored another counter-attack try as well
Am afraid toulon vs castres might be a proper try-less borefest. The good thing will be that most players will be available for the 1st NZ test, the worrying thing is that they are all out of form.

Re: Toulon to do the Double?
Clermont really only wanted the HC this season. Not getting it deflated the lot of them. No, Top14 isn't as good anymore.... not for them. Shame the French sides are only realising that now, possibly too late.
It's probably not professional to loose drive and ambition because your biggest prize has eluded you - once again. But it's certainly understandable in human terms. I asked after the HC final itself would we actually see Clermont fighting again for a European title next year...or would they now implode or drag themselves apart bit by bit, as there are bound to be differing opinions in camp as to why they lost out on the big one again. When belief and confidence go, they can be hard qualities to get back.

You should check the big yellow star they have now on their jersey! Looks like a cheap sheriff badge

Castres have won the top14!!!
It really shows how hard it is to do the double.

Well good for Castres.
I guess it goes to show how competitive our leagues can be at the business end of the season. Extremely difficult to win any of the leagues as well as the Heineken Cup.

Re: Toulon to do the Double?
Footnote for LT - I think Toulouse did the HC/league double in 96. But not many teams were taking the HC seriously in its first season.
