Hey shot,

It was an ok segment, shawn michaels, pay patterson, chris jericho and vince mcmahon came out to speak, Jericho told a story about when first met bret which was cool. Jerry lawler was the host and the state of Calgary honoured him aswell making whatever date it was bret hart day, lawler and bret made passing comments about Patterson being gay which was quiet funny

It was to promote the "app".

The only reason they did the Appreciation Night was because they were in Calgary - it's not like it was a tribute to someone who had died or anything. I doubt WWE could/would have given the amount of time spent on Hart on TV - it isn't something that the majority of the audience would be interested imo.

Hart had two decent backstage segments, the one with Hell No not only moving the story on but referencing Hart Foundation and bigging him up as a legend.

Why? He wasn't dead, and he really doesn't offer a lot to WWE these days anyway, it would have been a waste of time having it on the main show. It was mainly for the benefit for the live crowd, which was Calgary, the "home" of the Harts and to promote the WWE App so people would download it to watch the post-show.

Didnt Bret look happier?

Maybe because he was wearing a nice pastel blue Tshirt.

Either way, Bret offers nothing to the wrestling biz in 2013. Even less than hogan.

I felt I had to comment here even if its just to restore the balance.
I see everyone is jumping on the hate Bret bandwagon.

I dont understand anyone's problem with Bret, we dont see or hear from him that often, unlike alot alot of 90's guys.

I will be honest and say that I never liked Bret at his peak so its not like I am suddenly jumping on the band wagon!

He also comes over as an unbearable misery whenever he is interviewed.

What ego?
Please give examples.

He's aging and getting old, all with what he has accomplished and anybody in or out of the business and knows their wrestling have said he was truly the best and master of the ring, they dont say it for fun.
So he deserves to look back with pride.

ok if you generally dislike his personality thats fair enough, thats a matter of opinion. Not sure you can gage that from a few quotes from a sweaty wrestling writer, and any tv interviews ive seen are just him being honest about guys not being as good as back in his day and how the business has changed. Im glad he's not holding his tongue just because he is on the wwe payroll.

The only problem I have with Bret is after all what he said in his book, I wish he would stuck by it, but we dont if he needed the money or if the urge to get on a big stage coupled with the amount of time passed outweighed his hate of Vince ETC......

I dont mind him venting his opinions but they come over as incredibly bitter and half the time completely wrong (in my opinion, whcih although is usually 99% against popular opinion, isnt in the case of Brets comments!).

I just never bought into him as a wrstler to like or dislike growing up. He was completely indifferent to me - I would rather watch the bushwackers.

I appreciate he might have been talented but he just never did it for me (as I said I am in the minority!).

His comeback has meant nothing to me. And I understand that Hogan gets stick for hogging the airwaves, but I still prefer to watch 2 hours of hogan appreciation each week than 10 minutes of Bret appreciation!

I respect Bret for all he has achieved but I am not a fan of him tbh; I always found him boring.

As a fan of Bret I am suprised that you'd rather he had kept up his resentment towards WWE rather than returning and seemingly coming to terms with something that seemed to have a hold over him.

I don't have a problem with Bret making the odd tv appearance, especially when used for a decent reason, but I feel an Appreciation Night as part of the show, as suggested by Nick, would have been a waste of air time.

I agree it would of made no sense on the the weekly show to air it.
I wouldn't have rathered either way to be honest but to say all the things he did in such a public way for years and years then to go back on all of it was dissapointing.

Bret hart was the p4p best wrestler the wwf ever had. People who say he's a miserable so and so,answer this.

What would be you be feeling if you put all that effort into your career just to be screwed by an ego manic like vinces??

How would you feel if your career is ended by a kick to the head then you suffer a stroke?

Bret Hart to me will always be a legend no matter what.

im not gay myself, and tbh, i dont really like it. however, im comfortable enough with my own sexuality that i have no problem getting close to male friends, but it sickens me the homophobia of americans. pat goes for a full embrace with a friend hes probably known longer than ive known my best friend, and bret gives him a half hearted attempt at a hug in return. and then i read that both him and lawler makes jokes about his sexuality.

i dont know about everyone else, but i find picking on someone for their sexuality very weak

and having just watched that section, its even worse in video than how it was described

I kind of agree, but I'm pretty sure it was just gentle ribbing between friends. It's just inappropriate to do it in front of an audience of millions because it makes it seem okay when homophobia obviously isn't.

When I was a kid Bret Hart came along and took over from Hogan as the babyface I loved. I wish I still had my pink Bret Hart sunglasses.

However, I find his appearances on Raw nowadays uninteresting. Nothing to do with his interviews and whatever, I just don't think he does particularly well as a talker in modern wrestling.
