Clev v Dawson
Ok, so now that Dawson has been pancaked by Stevenson in one round, something I in part attribute to his weight drained drubbing at the hands of Ward, wil Frank Warren see this as an opportunity to give Clev a meaningful fight?
While I am not usually keen on young upstarts cashing in on a talent like Dawson after two losses, this would be meaningful and possibly one Clev could win.
Pre Ward I would have given CLev zero chance against Dawson, but now? I think it is worth a punt. He has a belt to offer.

Re: Clev v Dawson
It's a gamble i wish he would take.
Still a gamble none the less. There was no shame in losing to Ward and the loss at the weekend he got caught by someone packing a fair punch. It happens.
Still think he'd have too much for Clev though.

Frank Warren has probably already sent a few of his infamous emails too Dawson's team
Re: Clev v Dawson
It's an interesting idea, Sean, and if Dawson's record tells us anything it's that he'll always be up for fighting the top names at 175. Even on the back of his loss at the weekend, I'm sure 'Bad Chad' would jump at the chance to contest a belt in his next outing.
I don't think Warren will share that enthusiasm, however. I think it's fanciful to suggest hat the result of Stevenson-Dawson had anything to do with the pasting Ward gave Chad at 168, personally - the fight was over before Dawson had even got a foothold in it.
He really didn't do much wrong. Fair enough, he was slightly square-on when he got caught if you want to be hyper-critical of him, but really I just saw it as a 'caught cold' situation in which he didn't quite turn his punch over as quickly as the other fella, got caught as a result and that was all she wrote.
I think we need to see Dawson having a proper run out at Light-Heavyweight before we can properly gauge where he's at.
Cleverly, unlike Stevenson, isn't going to be laying any of the leading 175 pounders out with a single shot like that, and the last thing he and Warren need is to sign for a fight against Dawson and then realise, after a round or two, that he's not actually shot after all and still has those skills (if not a telling punch) which have taken him to that level above where Cleverly's been campaigning at until this point.
Given Stevenson's limited boxing ability, I'm yet to be convinced that his win over Dawson the other day was the rule rather than the exception, and right now I'd still have to back Chad against Cleverly, who from a styles point of view is very likely going to have to go the long way round if he wants to beat Dawson. I suspect Warren will leave well alone for now.

Cleverly will no doubt go after the nurse who treated Dawson on Saturday night after the fight
Re: Clev v Dawson
Wouldn't surprise me if Warren started angling for a Clev vs Stevenson fight.
Stevenson doesn't seem the slickest fighter out there and I would give Clev more chance against him than Dawson.
Or, in true Warren fashion he'll talk the fight up and then announce that Clev is fighting a Lithuanian Doorman.

Re: Clev v Dawson
As Clev has the only belt, Warren will probably say he's offered Dawson the fight but rejected it so he can claim "the top guys are avoiding him".
When you delve deeper the contract terms will be ridiculous.
If he did get Dawson in Cardiff Stadium it would be a big result for Warren.

Dawson's loss to Stevenson was more down to lack of respect towards Stevenson's power by Chad.
If they ever fought again, Dawson would probably beat him by UD.

I was poo pooed when I predicted Bellew would beat Dawson............
Knew the slap off Ward would have taken a toll...........
So Dawson gets a shot at Clev by being slapped in one!!
About right...........
