Re: Gavin Henson signs for Bath
You know if he can get his head finally screwed on that could be a crackin signing, especially working with guys like Eastmond and Joseph etc...
The big question is can he give up his ego enough to just get his head down and graft his a$$ off.
Mind Gary Gold wont take any sh1t so he needs to behave himself...

Everytime he signs for a new club we hear this though Geordie. I remember when he signed for Saracens it was "if he can finally sort his attitude out" etc. etc.
I'm not saying its going to be a terrible signing for Bath as he was ok for London Welsh, but I would be skeptical about the raft of opinion thats going to come in saying all he has to do is sort his head out. As supposedly thats all hes ever had to do and he hasn't done it in how many years of rugby...?

Funny, I thought Gloucester fans in particular might have been amused.

Bath and Glouc could both do really well next season. Can't wait to see what COS's actual signings end up being

Intersting that, as Lyn Jones openly said, when interviewed by BBC Wales, on being named Newport Gwent Dragons' new director of rugby, that he was looking to sign Henson with the Dragons.
Considering Jones' relationship with Gav, a little surprised that didnt come off.
Bet Bath must have offered more dosh...

Will either be the signing of the season or released next summer to sign for the Dragons.
Could be the ideal foil for Ford at 10. Henson kicks the points and gets to do his attacking thing in defence and attack whilst Ford orchestrates from pivot moving the team around the field with his brilliant kicking from hand releasing the backs and Henson when the now beefy Bath forwards have churned up some quick ball.

GT surely their owner will splash the cash on a fancy playing surface. He's spent enough topping up the pensions of players past their prime.
Blowing cash on talented youngsters is all well and good but if they twist their ankles on a porridge esque pitch it won't help them much. Can't see anything other than an perfect playing surface come season start.

Possibly. The rumour was Dragons only offered pay as you play. Also Lyn has only just come in, whilst this Bath move has been touted for ages.

Isnt that what they have said every time he changes clubs?

He did, though he still struggles with injury. A long summer will do him some good.

He did OK, but Gordon Ross was the more effective player for them and got the most from the side. Ross started and played the entirety of 4 of their 5 wins, Henson started the other of their wins, but Ross came on in the 60th minute at 6-6, which they ended 16-9.

Re: Gavin Henson signs for Bath
All joking aside, it says a lot about the riddle wrapped in the permatanned conundrum that is Henson when I can honestly say that whilst he could easily be Bath's best signing of the season, it's equally feasible that he could be the worst.
Nothing sadder than wasted talent though and so if he can maintain what he started at Welsh and stop himself from disappearing up his own backside then he can really kick on at Bath, particularly with talented 10s like Ford and Heathcote inside him.
Good luck to him. I mean that.

He did OK, when he was able/willing to play. 7 starts in the AP (1 in Amlin) and nor major impact on any wins.
HKC,
Be careful about the pointing and laughing. Cipriani could move to Kingsholm.

Re: Gavin Henson signs for Bath
I have never rated him as a player at all so it would be nice if he could stop hiding behind the tan, the acessories and celebrity facade and really concentrate on rugby and have an unbelievably good season so he can actually show us for once what he can do.
Attitude is a huge part of being a top player and he obviously falls very short here. However, I would also suggest that he probably just isnt mentally as strong as the top players. I say this because he always seems to be whinging about what his latest injury was and how it is effecting his game etc.
whereas most players just factor it in and get on with it.

I understand that the attraction for Henson was the first class facilities at Farleigh house... including the tanning booth, nail bar and on-site colonic irrigationist

Closer to the family than at london welsh and has a genuine chance of winning something than being at newport. He's 31 so will be 33 by the next world cup, so you never know. He looked awesome in the 2011 warm up game before breaking his arm the poor sod. I think

There's nothing wrong with a centre combination of Henson and Joseph on paper. On paper....
I really hope the Orange One doesn't restrict the game time young Tom McHeathcote thoroughly deserves.
