funnyExiledScot wrote:Really bad news on Horne and a real shame. He was developing nicely into good cover at both 10 and 12. Hopefully he can recover in time to make an impact towards the end of next season.
I'd imagine Dunbar and Bennett will now start as first choice centres next season at Glasgow, with wingers DTH and S Lamont able to fill in. I really hope Hogg isn't asked to play at centre next season.
They're going to have to sign another centre as cover anyway. Back on topic, with Beattie a doubt I'm starting the Schlong to no8 campaign.

Re: Scotland V Italy - End of season redemption
They should give Robbie Ferguson from Ayr a chance next season. Seems to have something about him.
I'm sure Lamont would make a decent fist of it at number 8, but I really don't think Denton has fallen quite that far from grace!

fES - we also have Tommy Seymour for the wing so Schlong can cover 13,14 and 11

Re: Scotland V Italy - End of season redemption
That's true Schiz, but I'd quite like a young Scottish centre to cover for Horne for the next 9 months, rather than moving Lamont into the centres (prefer him on the wing).
Dunbar and Bennett should be the first choice pairing at the start of the season.

Yes fES agree completely but I suppose SL can do it if called upon, and you always get 100% from him wherever he plays. Hogg can also cover 13 and 10 but I totally agree with others that he is far far better at FB

I really hope this abortive strategy of Hogg at 10 ends when the lions tour does.
he could be our best full back since big Gav.

Interesting Italy side... Like RDW I don't know a lot of those names. Hope Scotland play well again and get the win they deserve. Finish the tour on a real high.

Re: Scotland V Italy - End of season redemption
Just got up, slightly feeling the effects of a good meal with the ex-prop and our better halves. Only took five attempts to type "Slightly". WTF is wrong with the keyboard?
Scotland go into the game today on a high and Italy are on the back of two gubbings, what can go wrong? It's that schizo feeling of being totally certain we will win comfortably and yet remembering that we are Scotland.
Beattie seems a doubt this morn so I expect Big Bad Bob Harley to start with Dozer at 8. Doesn't matter who's 6 or 7 Strokes and Harley will just spend the 80 minutes smashing people backwards, then headbutting teammates.
It will have been a successful tour if after 60 minutes Pyrgos comes on, Scott goes to 10 and Taylor goes into the centres ( do we try Dunbar at 12 then?). In the pack the back up font row of Welsh-Brown-Low could get twenty minutes together if we are winning comfortably. They could be pressed into action a lot sooner if Castro has one of his destructive days. Which brings us to Mr Gilchrist (MFL Hons) I think he has been overtaken by Tim Swinson (honorary Glaswegian) and is on a no-win today. If he comes on early it will be because we're in trouble and unless he turns the game single-handedly then he will have added nothing or he joins the fray after the real work has been done what will that prove? I think at best he's fifth in the reckoning maybe even sixth behind Ryder.
If Laidlaw plays like a scrum half again we should win well, and I think Harley makes us slightly more aggressive at the breakdown/contact area than last week.
hat could go wrong?

Sonny Bill Scott? Hes made more offloads in 15 minutes than the combined total of scottish centres for the past decade.

Re: Scotland V Italy - End of season redemption
Forget about Hogg at 10, Scott looks like he'd be sufficient back up if we ever needed it.
If there's one thing we've gained from this tour, it's more experience for Scott. Great work so far.

Why don't you all turn the sound down if the commentators are annoying you? It's not like there's any atmosphere you'll miss out on.

Sky are a joke, 30 minutes into our game and they still havent switched over. Its bad enough we dont get to see our players with the lions, but now were missing out on our guys to hear some pointless post match analysis.

were even talking about the lions during our half time. Im behind the lions, and I watched the game in my lions jersey, but to eat into another game by half an hour for post match drivel, and then as soon as half time comes in that game, go back to talking about the lions is just insulting.
