Del Potro so proud of you
What blistering forehands to set up match point and win it.
Poor Little Daveed first could do nothing on the bombs served, and later return bombs on his own serve, and if at all he still stage a fight those blistering forehands come to play. Del Po meanwhile silently motored his way to semi's. Go Del Boy go.
Eventhough I was silently sure he gonna win this match, I had too much respect for Daveed that he could stage a comeback any time in the match if given a chance luckily Del boy didnt let him.
Vamous Del Po.
Update - Note
Just found another Unique stat for Del Potro
he won all the last matches against the current top 4 [i,e Novak, Andy, Roger and David]

Thx LF he actually did way too much to my liking, I expected a win but this high quality tennis was beyond my imagination as well, he is slowly getting the 2009 form, I sincerly hope he doesnt get injured again, please GOD the Gentle Gaint deserve to be injury free for the next part of his career.

You have to credit Delpo for finally being back in the mix at the back end of a Slam.

LK you won't believe the joy at the moment is way too much as if he won the title, the happiness is for the reason he has overcome the odds and doubters after his injury.
There is nothing more fun in life than staging a comeback, ask Tommy Robredo on FO

IC
I really did not expect a straight sets win today thats for sure. Novak will need his A game to stand a chance on friday, the way Juan returned in the first 2 sets was outstanding he certainly would've beaten Murray today.
Ferrer's performances in RG and his tough matches up to this point on grass caught up with him

What a result for Delpo! Tremendous!
Hope he's ok for the semi. He said afterwards he was close to pulling out.

Neither could I believe my eyes what I saw today.
@ Danny , that would be a horror, I don't mind him going down to world no.1 in semis but not injured.

Best performace I've ever seen from Del Potro - have seen him hit bombs before, but never with the consistency that he showed today.
Oddly, his serve isn't all that quick according to the speed gun (125mph ish), but he does really get it through the court and has so much variation on placement. Poor old Ferrer didn't have a hope.

Yeah IC, that is a potentially belting match IF Delpo is fit enough to compete.
Certainly better than Djokovic v Ferrer which I imagine would have been a formality like it usually is.

DH the ball is skiding through the grass on serve , so 125ish takes off like 145ish after being hit, I have noticed this on most matches specially Nole's matches.

To me Del Po looks fit and gearing to go against the Cyborg, it won't be easy neither it was against Ferrer.

Del Boy is the player with the biggest chance against the Djokovic wall. He's the one player who has the raw power to hit through him.
Hope for a competitive match.

I hope he brings all the Canons he used today, coz it was firing at will and broke Ferret to pieces.

The game needs him back, along with Janowicz coming through, and Dimitrov. With Fed going and Rafa turning into a 4 month a year clay player, it's quite simply essential

Congratulations to Del Po, I hope his luck runs out against Nole although you can't argue with the fact that delpo has not dropped a set and beat a player I thought he would have trouble with considering his leg injury. I like him in the fold it is good for the game.

Fantastic result and in str8 sets too. Well done JMDP.
However, you can bet Djokovic will expose his relative lack of great movement in their semifinal. He brings a whole other "thing" to the courts, than does Ferrer. Would be delighted for JMDP to win that, but, think Djokovic will take him in 4 sets - one hard set, three routine sets.

Yup, but be whatever the result we are not afraid of Cyborg, bring in him.

Yup Del Po is the only player outside Nole I guess to have not dropped a set so far.

Well done to Del Potro. I never saw any of the match but he showed great guts to get back up off the deck and carry on and put together a performance like that. Del Potro has the winning mentality but does he have the consistency?

Haven't you heard? Roger isn't going anywhere. In fact it looks like he may be turning into a 4 month a year clay player... Just being careful to ensure it's a different 4 months to Rafa.

So happy for Delpo. He ended what I think was a 35 match GS winning streak against players outside of big 4 for Ferrer.
I will now be rooting for him to go all the way - not easy I know.

Did not get to see any of the action today, so will try to catch some of it now. Unfortunately, I will not be able to watch the semis either . I am quite looking forward to both of them - I quite like Delpo and in Jerzy we finally have someone from the new generation in SF. Not being British, I do not quite feel the excitement of Andy having a chance to win it all, but that would still be somewhat interesting to me too.

I know given his physical conditions he will go down to Cyborg come Friday, but atleast he will hold this tag till then.

Delpo should do a favor to us all (apart from 2-3) and beat Djoko badly.

Re: Del Potro so proud of you
Well, I infused my post with double meaning. No matter what happens tomorrow and Sunday, Nadal will be #4 come Monday. Since Delpo lost his last match against Rafa, it will no longer be true that he won all the last matches against the (then) current top 4.invisiblecoolers wrote:summerblues wrote:It will no longer be true after this week.invisiblecoolers wrote:Just found another Unique stat for Del Potro

In any event, let's just hope that Delpo somehow wins against Nole.

DelPo did well today, but was tired by the fifth set. Djokovic should recover well for Sunday.

Delly on 1 knee was enough to answer anything elastic legs had until the fatigue and injury started grinding him to a halt Without injury Delly was going to walk the semis and final

Awesome player when on top form.
I find his forehand the most exciting shot in tennis.

His running forehand cross court should be the deadliest shot in the game, Djoko was prevented from playing his favorite down the line cross court shot coz of this.
All I hope is Del Po never gets injured again and that would mean he will win some slams for sure.
