Re: Summer Tournament - Round 3
Apologies Pete didn't see your comment about my side. Almost forgot last night to submit.
Newcastle 23 - 29 Saints
I like the Saints back row but think the 2nd row would struggle a little. I like the Falcons pack but concerns over the deterioration of Best's throwing and Messam often going completely missing the obvious weaknesses to me. Love the Saints outside backs which are undoubtedly the best in the league. I like the Falcons back three but would suggest that the centres are a bit one-dimensional with AAC currently struggling for form.
Bath 25 - 24 Leicester
For Leicester I think that they lack guys to consistenyly get them over the gain line. I don't see them having a big go to carrier. I'm not altogether convinced of Myall's ability as a lock around the park so I see him as a big weakness at 6 in this league. Think that 36/Jordaan would work as a combo but against most people's first choice might come off 2nd best. Like the general balance of the Bath side and think the lock combo is superb. Have a couple of guys to get them across the gainline which is important. Set piece pretty even for me.
Worcester 28 - 28 Sale
Worcester have a good strong side here which has a lot of strong carriers. I don't know all that much of Remi Tales and 10 is so important for Worcester to orchestrate the strong carriers they have in the back row and midfield. I'm also not sure how strong BJ Botha is at loosehead prop. Not saying he is bad but i'm not aware that he is renowned for it. Sale have a very good pack around the park and I do like the balance to it. The backs maybe lack a few strong runners but have plenty of flair and exciting runners and suit the conditions.
Saracens 0 - 30 London Irish
Little concerned about DHL's whereabouts. Prop that is a very good side for the 6N. I suspect you might lose Fraser if he continues his development. Not much more to say besides the fact I don't want you during the 6N's.

Re: Summer Tournament - Round 3
Welsh 30 - 31 Quins
Really tough to call this one. There are a few players I haven't seen much of in either team, which makes it a bit harder to call than in a lot of the other games, havent seen CL play at no10, but really like what Cooper can do for Quins with the backline and can certainly set up some opportunities. Like the Welsh front row, but maybe the rest of the pack lacks some ball carriers - not sure if I would partner Johnson and Armitage, I think they would need a bigger player to play alongside. Really like the look of Nowell for Pete though, think he's a future star. Shame that Warburton is out for 4 months for Steve, but dont think his rating will drop after his performances for the Lions.
Bath 27 - 25 Leicester
Agree with Steve's comments here. Getting over the gainline getting more important and Tigers could do with one or two more carriers in that team. Especially with distribution skills of Twelvetrees. Packs pretty even, Myall adds to the lineout but will have to see how he does for Wasps. Really like the Bath pack and one team you want to avoid during the 6Nations, Hodgson at 10 can cause some damage and can see Bath getting over the gainline a bit more.
Worcester 30 - 32 Sale
For Sale I think the centre combination of Hook/Pisi is the best that has been put out so far in these games - would definitely click in real life. See them as very similar to Wasps last year, a load of flair and will score a lot of tries but if you get at them physically then you will get points yourself. Warriors team is ridiculously tough and a lot of power and in conditions that weren't sunny and perfect for SJE's backline then they would have won. Sale can score from anywhere and have got a very, very strong backrow, which can secure turnovers. Warriors have more ball, but weather conditions count against them.
Saracens 0 - 30 London Irish
Prop very strong team you've got there now, half backs with an in form Evans will be up there as one of the best pairings in the league. Garvey will kick on next season with his move too, good strike runners in backthree too, Morris will continue to improve too.
