What are we looking forward to in Boxing in August?
August is almost upon us, so what are the fights we are looking forward to or is it a dry month? The obvious one in Cleverly against what most of us agree is a credible opponent and real challenge. Who else should we be looking out for?

Id agree with the cleverley fight for sure, think it will be brilliant. Also would be nice to see Darren Barker bring home a world title and defend against Murray in a domestic dust up. Think deonty wilder is fighting but not sure. Pretty dry but couple of good scraps.

Deontay Wilder vs. Siarhei Liakhovich
Nathan Cleverly vs. Sergey Kovalev
Darren Barker vs. Daniel Geale
Jhonny Gonzalez vs. Abner Mares
Victor Terrazas vs. Leo Santa Cruz
Shinsuke Yamanaka vs Jose Nievas
Gary Buckland vs Stephen Smith
Kiko Martinez vs Jonathon Romero (Should be a good strap & for the IBF title lookout for one of the Brits to challenge the winner)
Giovani Segura vs Jonathan Gonzalez (acid test Gonzalez)
Omar Narvaez vs Hiroyuki Hisataka (Narvaez should win comfortably...but this is my dark horse for what I shall now call the 'Months version of Figueroa/Arakawa')
Quieter than some months but I think that we still have some great contests on this August and a few which could throw up some fantastic battles. Obviously we have Clev in what many see as his first real test at the top level. Going in with a banger will certainly help silence some of the critics and with his attrition to stand and trade it could be a great scrap. Yet another one of our Middleweights are in a title fight and perhaps this is the best chance of a Brit bringing home a World Title. Barker has had his share of injury problems and he'll be hoping they are all in the past. A victory here should set up either a unification bout (sure he will fancy Martinez over Golovokin) or a big British showdown with Macklin, Murray or even Lee. Plenty of other good scraps especially at the lower weights and some acid tests for the likes of Gonzalez & Leo Santa Cruz.

On the domestic front I'm liking the Buckland v Smith match up.......is that on Boxnation?

Looking forward to Tyson Fury saying something so monumentally cretinous that even STRONGBACK starts to feel sympathy for David Haye

If you mean exceptionally loud and generally produce a level of aural drivel that most people find utterly stomach churning...then YEAH!Rowley wrote:DAVE667 wrote:Looking forward to Tyson Fury saying something so monumentally cretinous that even STRONGBACK starts to feel sympathy for David Haye

Superb use of the word "aural" there.
