What does it mean? Is the club still in existence?

Re: Coventry City liquidated
I think they are, but it's a possible 30 point deduction.

The club are still in existence but means they will start the new season with a 15 points deduction. The owners SISU have killed the club and the club will die unless that cancer is removed.

Re: Coventry City liquidated
I got to go to a few games at the Ricoh due to my Dad living in Cov. Aside from the few hundred in the rowdy singing section the place was soulless. SISU are definitely the reason this has happened, I mean ACL offered them about a 90% rent discount and they rejected it because they have the mental capacity of a 2 year old.
Now this is affecting my football life too as ACL now wants £2.5m off Northampton for damages and inducing Cov to play at Sixfields. Yeah, after ACL told them to take a hike for not paying rent!
Both groups are idiots and morons but at least ACL want to keep the team in Cov and breathing.

Very very sad day.
Coventry are a superb football club with a great bit of history and have some very good supporters.
This is just what happens, when you're football club is ran horrifically, which is why im so happy with everything that is going on at our club.
Really hope this can mess can somehow be sorted out.

Re: Coventry City liquidated
Quotes from BBC:
Very sad if this happens.
Coventry City release a statement saying CCFC Ltd "is likely to be put into liquidation which is expected to result in a points penalty for the club going into the new season".
It adds: "It is with great regret that a proposed Company Voluntary Agreement (CVA) has been rejected by Arena Coventry Limited (ACL).
"The football club and the Alan Higgs Centre Trust accepted the administrator's CVA, but the City Council, through ACL, have chosen to reject it - leading to possible liquidation and the risk of a 15-point deduction. The club will hold urgent meetings with the Football League this afternoon to go through the next steps for the football club."
Very sad if this happens.

Re: Coventry City liquidated
They had some guys on Talksport earlier saying the playing side is not involved because the company that pays the players is not in financial trouble and that they shouldn't have any issues with paying wages.
Re: Coventry City liquidated
10 point deduction.

Re: Coventry City liquidated
The biggest mistake the club made was moving to a stadium that was too big for them and that they didn't own.
They need their own stadium and if that means playing in Northampton while they build one then that is the way forward. the ideal situation would be for someone to take over and buy a controlling stake in the Ricoh.
Anyway I have my ticket for next Sunday's game at Northampton. I'm not a Coventry fan just going for the occasion.
If Coventry don't move back to the Ricoh, I wonder what will happen with the stadium? That could form their own team AFC Coventry, move local non-league team there in Bedworth United or perhaps Coventry RFC could move there and push for the Aviva Premiership.

Feel for the club but have no sympathy for some fans.
Apparently waving 5 pounds notes vs portsmouth , singing your going bust in the morning.
I've been through this and it's horrible. No time for fans like that.

If it was £10 or £20 notes maybe they wouldn't be in this mess

I have been to both of Coventry's games at Sixfields, seen two good games and 17 goals.

Very good but can't help feeling you are lining the pockets of those responsible for putting the club in a near-death situation - SISU or is it now Otium Entertainment?sportform wrote:I have been to both of Coventry's games at Sixfields, seen two good games and 17 goals.

Re: Coventry City liquidated
At the same time though if you don't line the pockets of SISU the club could risk being in worse trouble.
Re: Coventry City liquidated
Coventry's woes are a result of selling of Highfield Road, squandering the money they got from it (not sisu but Geoffery Robinson and co) and move to a stadium they didn't own.
Coventry City need their own stadium if they want a viable future. I don't really understand why the fans would rather support the Ricoh Arena, ACL, Coventry City Council that have nothing to do with the club rather than the team. Surely you stick by your team in the good and bad times? Not just the good? Other clubs have been in a worse state than Coventry and their fans didn't desert them.
Totally agree with CFCNick. The so-called fans 'strangling' the club when they need them the most is pretty bad.
I can understand the fans frustration about moving to Northampton, and that the owners should state stadiums plans as soon as possible, but some of the rumours I have heard are ludicrous.
