Things you'd like to see in rugby
The corollary to the thread by kiakahaaotearoa about `Things that have no place in rugby`. This is for things you would love to see in top class rugby - things which may well already feature in the lower echelons of the game.
For my part, having played club rugby for many years, I'd love to see:
Players jog onto the pitch, and then to the in-goal area to put their pint and fags down behind the posts out of harm's way.
Players having a crafty smoke in the in-goal area with aforementioned fags after conceding a try
If one team loses all it's props to injury, perhaps the other team could "lend" them a player, in the finest tradition of scratch club games...
I'm sure there must be many, many more....

Would this continue at international level?

Well, possibly not the first couple, what with the whiter-than-white lifestyle of today's international players.
The third might have legs though. If one scrum is clearly dominant and the other side suddenly suffer a spate of front row injuries leading to uncontested scrums, perhaps the difference could be made up by the "lending" of a player(s) to allow the scrum to continue to function.

Are you sure about this lol

On a serious note though what would I like to see more of???
Running rugby, consistency of refereeing, empathy for players from referees.

Missed drop goals meaning a free kick to the opposition from the point the drop goal was attempted

One interpretation of the laws that all refs and players treat as gospel.

A better organised NH calendar would be a massive gain too.

Re: Things you'd like to see in rugby
When teams run the clock down they shouldn't be allowed to kick the ball straight out of play without at least trying to get it over the gain line, I hate to see scrum half’s run towards their own in goal area just to boot it into row z.
I also think you should be limited on how many times you can pick and go without making any yards, as it’s not a good way for a game to end.

NZ to lift the Webb Ellis trophy in 2015 to be the first team to win consecutive RWCs. That's top of my wish list.
Players not only yellow carded for diving or play acting but also given a minimum of three games to stand down to ponder over their unwanted shenanigans.
Scrums rewarding dominance and refs getting a handle on any trickery.
Great defence but also great attack to open up great defence.

I'd just settle for a few more completed scrums

Props made to wear bigger shirts so they have something to grip onto in the scrum.
Ball fed straight into the scrums so the hooker has to hook.

Re: Things you'd like to see in rugby
being able to punch the scrum half for talking to the ref or for giving a crooked feed at the scrum or moaning or shouting or basically doing anything other than passing the ball to the fly half, the odd box kick or darting run
(yeah I am not a fan of scrum halves)

Welshy
You could have just stopped after 'being able to punch the scrum half .
There is a story from Leicester of Austin Healy going down after being punched, and the ref turning to Johnno and saying 'did you see who did it'. The response was 'No, but there are 29 suspects...'

Apparently this ruling has found its way into the McDonalds mission statement too.welshy824 (new) wrote:being able to punch the scrum half for talking to the ref or for giving a crooked feed at the scrum or moaning or shouting or basically doing anything other than passing the ball to the fly half, the odd box kick or darting run
