World Championships Athletics: Day 2 Empty World Championships Athletics: Day 2

Day 2 of the World Athletics Championships;

Women's 400m Great run from Christine Ohorogou, winning her semi in 49.75, to go into the final as a realistic challenge to Montsho. Won't be easy, but of the two Ohorogou is now the most experienced and is known as a fighter. That semi too would have reminded everyone about serious prospects.

Mens 100m Was always going to be tough for tghe British lads. HAA did well to get past the first round but do not think he was ever a realistic prospect to make it beyond ( in another season, he may well not have made it out of the British / UK Trials i.e. Gemili not running ).

Chambers; he is now past his best ( though good to see that he still has the fire )

Dasalou: after the first round, looked completely out of sorts and wasn't too sure about his mental strength / attitude. However, 3rd in his semi in 9.97 and a fastest loser spot. Well done to the man!! He has huge ability, but needs to find a training regime and approach that enables him to avoid injuries ( from what we hear, he is injury prone - unfortunate! ). Good luck to him in the final coming up ( he has a sub 9.9 in the tank but not sure he'll be able to get near that in today's final ).

Osagie: Great result for him to make into the 800m final. Sub1:45 run in his semi and gave it everything he had, especially having been unjured. Great result!

Will Sharman: 110m hurdles - great that he got through to the semi's, but only third in his heat and didn't look like a realistic prospect to make the final. Good luck to him regadless.

A great Moscow World Athletics Championships so far!

Women's 10, 000m

Awesome win for Tirunesh Dibaba! Completely out on her own. An all-time great, and still only 28!

Men's 100m Final

Bolt a clear favourite. A time in the 9.6 range?

What if Yohan Blake had been present?

Likely to be one or two surprises in race?

What can Dasalou produce? Feel he may have given it his all in the semi - but good luck to the fella!!!

Men's 100m Final

Bolt wins in 9.78

Gaitlin 9.85

Gaitlin pushing Bolt harder than I thought he would. Well doen to him.

Weather not great and Bolt not at his best this season.

Well done to Dasalou. He made the final. Got a great start but not able to hold in the latter half. How much had his earlier injury worries affected him?
