sprained ankle
I sprained my anke playing football about 5 1/2 weeks ago.
I still have pain when running and juming etc and have avoided playing football or doing any squats at the gym or leg press etc.
Anyone sprained an ankle before and how long was it before it was fully healed etc.

I supect that you would have been fine already if you hadnt continued working out with your injury. From here on... Id say RICE it (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) and it 3-6 weeks you should be right.

Kingraf is right champagne. By not fully resting you were just causing further aggravation to the injury

Re: sprained ankle
I have been fully resting. I have not played football since the injury or done any running etc.
It has been 6 weeks but it is a lot better, It should be fully healed in about 10 days (8 weeks total)

Re: sprained ankle
When did you start running again that you felt pain. Non-impact training should be the way to go as soon as you're pain free in day to day activities.

Re: sprained ankle
Yes I sprained my ankle pretty badly late June of this year. It's still at least a few weeks off being fully healed.Champagne_Socialist wrote:

I suppose the main factor with recovery time is the severity of the sprain. I have had standard sprains before but can't remember how long they took to heal! You can help the healing process by doing rehab exercises to strengthen the supporting muscles of the ankle. Don't bother icing etc as this is only done within the first week of the injury to minimise swelling.

Re: sprained ankle
When going back to exercise get heat on to the ankle before doing anything and ice after to kill the inflammatory response.
