Following on from another thread, I thought I'd be useful to discuss where to get good food and drink at your club, or as in the case of mine where to avoid! Furthermore, who has the best?

Starting with Glaws, the best pubs are the White Hart (or Teagues) and The Jockey, both are right opposite Kingsholm. There is a pub literally just round the corner called the Coach and Horses which specialises in cider. In the ground we do stock real ale, but it tends to run out an hour before the game starts, so hopefully this will be addressed in the new season. After the game, there is usually a band and a replay of the game in the main Shogun Bar which is normally quite good fun.

If you value your life you won't eat any food in the ground, it has all come directly from Beelzebub's bumhole. The only decent play to get food is outside the ground there is an Old Spot sausage grill stand, which is excellent.

Whilst I don't mind Glaws' food and beverage I certainly wouldn't vote it the best by a long distance!

Time for more innuendo about Kohn's sausage?

Food in and around Welford Rd is ok. Nothing earth shattering but mostly edible. Generally the pubs closest to the ground are best avoided for food I find. The pub on the "v" between the hospital and the prison serves a decent real ale. The town though is pretty good for eating. I will often drive up, park very early and walk into town for food, then wander back down the hill to my seat.

You mean you don't go to a little Italian restaurant in Market Harbrough afterwards?

Generally every true Quins fan makes it a priority to get their hands on Ollie Kohns sausage pre game as that's when its at its best. Hot and filling!

If you're some kind of sicko (probably from a county ending in 'er') then you do have the option of other boring food like hog roasts and a Germans sausage, but they all pale before Kohns meat.

Oh and you'd better like Green King as its pretty much all we serve. (until the obligatory post game pink champagne and prawn sandwiches that is).

I'll second Yappy's vote for the Jolly Hog, which has the added advantages of being a) usually set up in the car park when there's a game at Twickenham and b) being a source of Quins gossip if you get talking to the lads. Quins players have been known to help serve, though not for a couple of years.

As for ale, there are pubs to suit all tastes in Twickenham, and the Quin's Head reputedly serves a decent range of real ales - though my kids have ensured that I've not been to it since they moved the bouncy castle to the other end of the ground. The Jug Bar in the East stand usually has 4 or 5 real ales.

At the Dragons, the clubhouse does decent faggots, chips and gravy (on top of other food) and used to do a decent enough chicken curry (though according to my mate who considers himself a bit of a connoisseur it isn't as good any more). Failing that, there is a curry hut on the walk from the clubhouse to the stands, which is good.

Outside the ground, the majority tend to eat/hydrate at a local pub called the Dodger because queues in the clubhouse and particularly the Hazell stand can be a problem. I gather the Bisley (the posh stand) doesn't have such issues really.

For the Dragons I'll add that Rodney Parade is a five min stroll from town which has (from personal preference) 3 Wetherspoons, a decent sport/rock pub called the Carpenters, the Riverside Tavern 2mins from the ground plus the Dodger of course.

You can also get two pinters from at least 1 of the 2 bars at the ground too
