Are UK boxing fans lucky?
The Mayweather v Canelo fight will cost Americans $75
UK fans can spend $17 on boxnation and not only watch mayweather v canelo but get to watch all the boxing for a whole month included in the $17.
Are UK boxing fans lucky in the sense we get to see the biggest boxing matches for very cheap?

Not lucky that my alarm went off at 2am in order to be watching this. No way could you charge any more than what we are paying. That said, Haye-Fury is a fraction of American ppv too.
Supply and demand though isn't it. You charge what people will pay. Not sure luck comes into it.

So are UK boxing fans lucky that supply and demand is lower in this coutry than in the US thus resulting in the biggest fights being very cheap?KingMonkey wrote:Not lucky that my alarm went off at 2am in order to be watching this. Re: Are UK boxing fans lucky?
Is it naturally lower or have UK fans manufactured a position whereby they cannot charge us more? If fights were £50 would we be paying? I know I wouldn't. Not sure I'll buy Haye-Fury tbh, not after the Harrison and Wlad debacles.

Re: Are UK boxing fans lucky?
I struggled to pay for me £10 haircut this morning let alone £50 for a fight!

I think you are right, UK fans would not pay £50 for a 1 off fight.KingMonkey wrote:Is it naturally lower or have UK fans manufactured a position whereby they cannot charge us more? £10 or $17 dollars for a months boxing is great value and I really can't see how people insult boxnation, it is dirt cheap.

First time I've bought Boxnation and I'll unsubscribe in a few weeks. The issue for me was that Warren took a load of boxers I was watching on Sky and wanted to charge me more for it. Sky have more than enough coverage for me now, I don't need/want to pay for more.

Re: Are UK boxing fans lucky?
I think Warren had a vision that all boxing would end up on boxnation. Domestically his vision has failed but Boxnation seem to be getting all of the major international fights. I don't know how they are outbidding sky or if Sky are even bidding at all but boxnation seems great value for money.KingMonkey wrote:First time I've bought Boxnation and I'll unsubscribe in a few weeks. There are at least 6 fights coming up this month that I would want to watch and Boxnation are broadcasting.

Re: Are UK boxing fans lucky?
Really? I looked at the Boxnation schedule and aside from Ryder-Saunders next week there was nothing.
I'd be happy enough with the Sky card next week, Matthews - Woodhouse should be fun then in the coming months they have some good'uns; Marquez-Bradley and Stevenson-Cloud being standouts.

I was thinking of the month of august 17th til september 15th which would have covered fights of cleverly, abner mares, mayweather alvarez, garcia v mattase.
I am pretty sure boxnation is showing manny pacquio as well later this year.

Re: Are UK boxing fans lucky?
Hmm, comparing Boxnation's (a dedicated boxing channel) forthcoming schedule to Sky Sport's for the following 2 months and it is no comparison
Boxnation
21st Sept
Ryder Vs Saunders - very good fight
Chisora Vs Gerber - meh
Gavin vs miss match
Walsh Vs Murray
nothing on until 19th Oct
Frampton Vs Parodi (big step back from his last fight in Feb)
Undercard is not worth talking about.
Granted they will pick up some GBP shows late on the cheap like Donaire, Hopkins etc
They also didn't have the Mares card you suggest.
Compare this to sky's forthcoming schedule.
21st Sept
Woodhouse Vs Matthews - not life changing but a decent scrap
L. Smith Vs Ochieng - should be a close competitive fight
C. Smith Vs Mendy - good fight, bug step up for Calum
Fielding vs likely mismatch for the vacant commonwealth
Ryder vs Saunders is the best fight next week, but Matchroom's show is better and deeper IMO.
28th Sept
Fury Vs Haye
Lee
Quigg Vs Salinas - granted this is PPV so doesn't get much credit from me
Stephenson Vs Cloud
5th October
Joshua Card (very much looking forward to Foot Vs Ekandayo)
Cotto vs Rodriguez (Crawford on undercard)
12th Oct - Bradley Vs Marquez
19th Oct - Provodnikov Vs Alvarado - potential FOTY
26th Oct - Brook Card
2nd Nov - Campbell Hull card featuring Towers Vs Scott
Which is better?

Re: Are UK boxing fans lucky?
But to answer the original question rather than another Boxnation Vs Sky Sports debate, obviously the times are key - you can't expect UK fans to pay those prices for a main event starting after 5.30am - I stayed up til 6.45am this morning and have pretty much ruined my Sunday as a result and I don't think there is any top top stars over here to warrant those prices so you cant really compare the two. But I wouldn't pay more than £15 for any potential UK fight like Froch vs anyone, Brook-Khan, Fury-Haye etc, although I cant imagine me paying the usual $50 if I was American for their typical PPV.
Hard to answer the question as we are not getting the top international stars on PPV over here at peak UK times.
